Well my screenname is Ammit (who was the Ancient Egyptian creature who sat in on the Weighing of the Heart ceremony and would gobble up the heavy hearts. Inspired by my Art of Ancient Egypt class haha). I am a 21-year-old woman who has been studying and practicing witchcraft, rootwork and Hoodoo in one way or another for most of my life. I am a devote atheist (haha) though I do believe in spirits (which I don't consider contradictory) and I would really love to devour all there is to know about the theory, practice, and history of American folk magic (rootwork, hoodoo, pow wow, granny magic &c.).
I've been reading through the Lucky Mojo resources like a madwoman over the last few days and though I would love to get my hands dirty, so to speak, I have no need to cast so I'll just have to wait. My ultimate goal is to become as knowledgeable as possible so that I may help people with their troubles (for free and for a fee) and to make medicinal and magical botanical goods such as soaps, lotions, colognes &c. That's a long time coming though and so in the meantime I'm happy just to read read read.
Anyway I hope to get to know you all. Thanks for Lucky Mojo Curio Co. for making such a fantastic series of pages and the forum.

Re: Hello Everyone!
Hello, Ammit -- welcome to our forum, despite your stated intent to set yourself up as my competitor. As long as you understand the terms of service here, i am sure you will learn a lot, although you will probably not find this site advantageous to your plans to become a manufacturer of spiritual supplies in competition against me.
Also, with respect to your "need to cast" (i assume you mean to cast a spell -- we call this doing a job, working roots, conjuring, or doing a job) -- it is my exprience that the wisest root workers are those who have worked for themselves and thus can sympathize with and understand the jobs that others need done.
This need for hands-on practice prior to becoming a worker for the public, by the way, that many root doctors limit their practice either to helping themselves, family, and friends -- or limit the types of jobs they take to a certain range of tricks or specialize in a certain type of work (such as love, or money, or court cases): They want to offer to the public only what they have done themselves and know how to do and what they feel good about doing, rather than falsely pretend that they can be all things to all clients.

Re: Hello Everyone!
Oh no need to worry Catherine, my plans won't come to fruition for a decade at least!
I like the words "conjuring" and "doing a job" much better than "casting" (although "doing a job" is more of a phrase haha). Like I said I'm still learning. In any case I don't plan on providing my services online (expect for possibly the botanicals and beauty supplies in limited quantities) but more by word of mouth. I want to be someone that the people in town know about only and can come to me if they need help.
I understand the need to practice what you preach, I just don't think that I should be conjuring if I need to. I have a wonderful boyfriend so I don't need a love spell (although some sex magic would be nice, I don't know if he would appreciate it), money is tight but not intolerable...I'm sure that things will come where I can become more experienced. I want to make lots of charms though because that's where I feel drawn the most. I haven't even made a scratch in the resources your site provides though! Any advice on outside sources, some good books maybe to read?
In the time before I start my dreams I fully intend to send some good will your way (by that I include money haha) because your products look divine. I really love the female genitalia candles. I've never seen anything like it and they look fantastic!!
