First Impressions
First and foremost I am new to the forum and I must say I have been intrigued from the beginning. I was given a free reading by Dr. Kioni and cat on the radio show on February 6. I didn't know I had to logon to a particular site to get a reading and I appreciate the free reading that was given. I was the one with the super bowl noise. I did not appreciate being put on mute! I wasn't being rude and not listening to Dr. Kioni's requests; I am not in my home and tried to go to back of house. Thank u Cat for the reading. First impressions speaks volumes.

Re: First Impressions
Poetikk there are plenty of postings on the forum her on LM, in the chat rooms with the blog talk radio, and if you follow them on Facebook the instructions our also posted there.
All the background noise was distracting and if one is calling into any radio show, especially one where they are seeking advice, one would make sure to be in place where it is quiet and one can talk to those offering the help without distractions. It's understandable that you didn't honestly know and you were informed on that for later dates, but it was asked for you to turn down the volume.
I can't really speak for anyone else, but for the time I have ben listening to the show and heard both Cat and Dr K on the show they both are great people and readers and workers. They know their stuff and they always have told it like it is. When I have done readings for people and workings also there are times I have to be blunt and to the point and people never like what I have to hear sometimes. It just goes to simple manners of when talking on the phone you give the person on the phone your attention and keep the background noise to a minninum.
Don't forget you also make a first impression and when you call up with all this background noise and out of turn, even if it was unintentional, it doesn't look good. Both Cat and Dr K took your call after all. I hope I am not stepping out of bounds for this response and if I have I do apologize. Just use it as a hard lesson in on how the show works.

Re: First Impressions
I'd like to add that it's not like you were singled out at all. Both Dr. K and Miss Cat will try to correct ANY distracting sound on the show, be it an echo or background noise coming from callers OR themselves. They have done it before with other callers.
This is a professional show with podcasts that are downloaded thousands of times by people around the world, and people want to hear what is being said. It is a learning community. If you were in a classroom and asking the teacher a question while you were texting on your phone or listening to your iPod or some other distracting action even if not intentionally, I am sure you would be told to remove the distractions before they would answer.
AmaSarah, I pointed out to Miss Michaele that you are very helpful on the forums as well. I am glad you got the help and advice you needed

Re: First Impressions
Poetikk, A new thread is started each week here on the forum where members may sign up for the upcoming weekly call. The thread can be found under the "Course, Books, Readings, Workshops, Parties, Apprenticeships" section of the forum and is usually posted by Miss Cat herself. The thread is used to both pre-screen the calls and introduce the caller to the listeners.
Miss Cat and Dr. Kioni produce a high quality, quite valuable weekly radio show where we can all call in to listen, learn and, if so lucky because there is a long list, participate. for free. For Free. I think it is only common courtesy that if we are so lucky to be chosen as a caller that we do if from a quiet place where we can dedicate 100% of our attention to the call. After all, they are dedicating 100% of their attention to us. Never mind the invaluable advice that is dispensed afterwards. We are all placed on mute at some point so that these two experts can discuss the case even further and how rootwork can be employed. Remember that the lesson is not just for the caller but for all those that are listening who may be in similar circumstances and can benefit from our experience. So they will listen to your story and help you out but then go on to mute you off so they can elaborate even further. The program, in my eyes, is not about the individual caller but about furthering the education of the community as a whole.
I don't usually chime in when I see posts like this but what disturbed me even more was that your call, Poetikk, was taken by mistake. Dr K and Miss Cat were looking for my call as we both called from the same area code. Despite taking your call in error and despite you not having pre-registered, they still tried to help you.
Like ShadoWalker said, you are making a first impression as well. This is a great forum loaded, loaded, loaded with excellent advice from a small group of moderators who seem quite dedicated to answering every question that is posted from a base of knowledge that I imagine takes years to build, more patience than I've ever possessed and a compassion you don't normally find among strangers. Actually, I no longer feel like these people are strangers as they have all taken on very unique personalities in my mind as I continue to read and participate here.
