New to the board

Unread post by ProfessorAmes » Fri Feb 11, 2011 3:04 pm

Hi all, I'll give this another shot - apologies if I'm duplicating.

I came upon Lucky Mojo and this great information after reading the Jason Miller books. I was born and raised in the rural south (just north of Memphis) and had always heard people refer to "hoodoo" or to "put the hoodoo" on someone. I thought it was a made up word and the later thought it was a bastardization of Voodoo. Little did I know that it was going on all around me. The woman that helped raise my father and his siblings and later me seemed to practice some for of this, thought I think mostly for the benefit of driving away snakes. I just thought it was all superstitious wives' tales.

Later I became involved in the new age, neo-pagan practices in LA and now am glad to find a magic that is tied to my regional and personal roots... (pun intended). Looking forward to being more involved in conjure practice and getting to know folks in the community.

Thanks everyone. My eyes are already bleary from all of the online reading I've been doing. About to make the call to order the Herb and Root book and a few other goodies. Very excited.

I've read through the online book and now just finished up HHRM - fantastic! I also got my order and am doing my first conjure with the Peaceful Home kit and I'm going to make up a protection mojo this weekend as well. I'm so excited about all of this and thankful for miss cat's incredible research and dedication to the work. Oh, and I've been poring through the posts here in the forum from all of you - great stories, suggestions and conjurework!
