You want to work with St. Dymphna, the patron saint of anything psychological. You are in luck, since her feast day is coming up on May15. Since St. Dymphna is Irish, I would work with St. Brigid of Ireland too.

St. Dymphna's main color is blue and she has no specific day, so Sunday is good.

Good luck!

For me as an Necromancer; and so forth-when I use to work with certian saints, I began to think like that saint, although I have learned that even the most spiritualist saints realize/d that they were not saints, simply because they couldn't come to see themselves as a saint, either being a Christ-Child, and/or so forth. I feel that the reason why so many are thinking of Palsm lately is simply because so many aspects of King Solomons work on Eden has or may have become forsaken, such as his most in depths Ritual Workings...Truly-Withinnox.

I was told by a few that I have spirit guides or guardian angels who want to help me. What are things or items used to help me contact them??

Honestly, it depends on which type of being it is. In my experience, while these both have similar 'goals', they are very different entities and should be treated appropriately. I feel divination is the first thing called for in your case to determine this. The more you know about them, the better your relationship will be.

Hi Sharona,
J again hits the nail on the head! I would go with divination or with dream work when trying to establish a relationship with either. Also, making a space for them on your altar if you have one, may be appropriate.

good luck,

Dumb question, but I would like to know... when making an offering to a certain saint/diety etc. how does one properly do it?
To make this a bit clearer, I guess, Im asking...
Do I just put the offering (fruit/rum/flowers etc.) in front of the statue?
and what I really want to know is how long do you leave it there? Until it rots, wilts, etc?

Thank you.

The answers to those questions may depend on the saint/deity in question. Most Catholic saints accept candles and flowers, which are kept on the altar by their statue until they start to wllt. Deities are more variable, both in terms of desired offerings and protocol. Anyone in particular you wish to know about?

Obviously the religion involved also affects how and what one offers.

I have been taught by numerous people that it is not good to leave rotting food or flowers on an altar dedicated to a Saint or Holy Figure. Now dried flowers are a different matter, but fresh flowers that are going bad on the altar are a no, no.

With most Saints you make your petition to them, say an appropriate prayer, and then give them the food/flower offering immediately. The big exception to this is Saint Expedite who gets his thanks offerings only after he has come through for you. Note: this is only if you are directly petitioning St. Expedite, you can leave him a thanks offering at any time as you can with most Saints.

After the offerings have been made, most folks will do as has been suggested and dispose of the flowers and share any food offerings that are appropriate with their local wildlife. Please do not make substances like chocolate, alcohol, or rice exposed to wildlife as these things can harm and in some cases even kill our fellow creatures.

good luck,

Bri,

I was always taught if a food offering is given to the saints, to give the food offering to the less fortunate and tell those individuals how the saint(s) helped you so that the saint's name and fame will grow.
Is that wrong? Should I be feeding the offerings to wildlife instead?

Thanks so much for this post and all the answers!!

Hi Mohammed,
Mohammed wrote: Actually yes.... In particular, St. Lazarus, St. Peregrine, St. Jude, and St. Sebastian, if there is any specific offerings..
Saint Jude is often petitioned with a candle and novena, and if he grants the petition, he is afterwards publicly thanked, very often in print (hence, the popularity of "Thank you Saint Jude for prayers answered" classified ads).

I'm not Bri, but the method of dispersing food offerings that you describe is perfectly fine (as is feeding food offerings to wildlife). That said, the saints do seem to vary in how much respective weight they place on furthering of their fame in the human world versus direct alleviation of hunger / suffering --For examples, St. Jude is served most often with public thanks in the human world, St. Francis is more often served by spreading seed / bread for birds or other wild creatures, and Saint Expedite works for both pound cake and public testimony to his efficacy and speed.

A Novena is a devotion consisting of prayer said on nine successive days, asking to obtain special graces. If you work with a particular Saint you can do a search with prayers asking for assistance or intervention from that Saint. When doing my Novena I would start at sunrise. Coming from a strong Catholic background, we practiced Novenas at different times of the day. We would start a Rosary Novena starting on the day a family member (in the evening at the same time, usually 9pm) died and on the 9th evening coffee/tea and pastries were offered to the attendees. A white candle remained lit the entire 9 days as well along with a picture of the deceased. If you want to work with a particular Saint, then a white candle may be lit, and it may be anointed with oils if you like.
Hope this answered your question.

Hi All,

I am very new to hoodoo and magick in general. I tried performing a Call Me Back Spell last night along with a forgiveness spell I found on these forms, and I am being patient to see the results... Anyway, I was wondering after I performed this spell, is there a way to find out what spirits are around you? and what are the best ways to communicate with them (and to tell if they are trying to contact me)? For some reason I feel my grandmother's spirit was around, but I want to find out what spirits are around me and the best ways to communicate with them.

Any input is much appreciated.

Easiest thing to do for spirit communication is to put out a white candle and bowl of water. Just sit in front of the candle and ask whoever is near you to make themselves known. If you feel it is your grandmother around you, then she probably is. Put her picture on the altar too.

From that page:

SAN MARTIN CABALLERO OIL
Roman Centurian shares cloak with beggar; draws money and customers.

SAINT EXPEDITE OIL
For rapid results, luck in a hurry, an end to procrastination and delays.
(Expedite is very often used in money spells.)

SAINT JOSEPH (SAN JOSE) OIL
Patron of workers, St. Joseph aids those wishing to sell real estate.
(Do you work and want to get more money through that, maybe this would be appropriate)

SEVEN AFRICAN POWERS (SIETE POTENCIAS) OIL
Seven Catholic Saints representing 7 African Orishas, plus Justo Juez.
(Often used for luck and power - would that apply to the way in which you want to draw money??)

Well, I'm not sure which saint to use, but there is a line of condition products called Money Stay With Me which would be helpful for that.

You want want to consider contacting a reader to see what is causing the financial deficiency, and the best way to go about remedying that. Some of them work with saints, so you could choose one that does and they could help you out in that department as well.

Seconding this, Money Stay With Me and trained hunting money is what you need. Pray to whoever you feel comfortable with, it doesn't have to be to a saint, you could, ya know, pray to God. Just a thought.

I can understand your frustration--so many saints, and so many subsequent traditions! But if I get you correctly, you want to have money given back from you that was taken. In that case your petition would be for recovery, and not necessarily for gain. There are several saints we can look at, therefore, who might be able to help you in your course:

- The Anima Sola (Lonely Soul in Purgatory) is an excellent returner of stolen items/people. She torments those people who have done you wrong, and she has the ability to return items to you in your hand, with the punishment of the thief/swindler a usual grace. However she is difficult to please, and can be capricious. You might have to make an offering of your home or business for her to work for you correctly. But usually the Anima Sola is a first-rate alternative when the other saints are too busy on the celestial telephone line.

- Another one I can think of is the Omniscience or Omnipresence of God. In Hebrew it is likened to the shekhinah, the literal and spiritual eminence of the Deity. This aspect of the Holy Spirit is purely retributive; whatever you ask for He will provide, and he punishes those who anger Him or blaspheme His name. There's an excellent lithograph and a description on this site. Look it up; also check the Anna Riva books for prayers to the Holy Spirit of Hate, which is said when someone takes something from you or hurts you in some other way.

- If you want to manage your money, pray either to St. Nicholas (patron of pawnbrokers and moneylenders, and anyone with debts, coming in or going out), or St. Homobonus (lit., "good guy", he gets jobs done with money quickly). I can't stress giving a novena to St Jude (the patron saint of the desperate par-excellence) and St. Alexius (his older, more revered cousin). St. Alexius will get money back even if it isn't yours, and will render the thief contrite in heart and without a penny in his pocket (the legend of course being that St. Alexius was so poor he lived under his parents' staircase).

-Saints with green in their robes are good for praying to money. Green/brown indicate a legal aspect.

I hope this helps.

Figures that the feminine power of God (Shekinah being female) is what got association with a spirit of Hate. *sheesh*
(Although when a woman gets a hate-on, you sure as hell have trouble on your hands - that's for sure! LOL)

St. Joseph helps with this. He is the Patron saint of workers and the Catholic Church, He always provided for Jesus and Mary as a carpenter. He taught Jesus to be a carpenter too.

I would do a brown candle for him.

Get the book "Communing with the Spirits" by Martin Coleman - it will help with you learning to communicate with spirits, and if you're gifted for it and are successful in that endevour, then also how you can get a spirit of divination. I would work through the Coleman book so you can develop many skills for spiritwork, including divination.

I've never heard of that spirit, and I searched the LM archives and found nothing there either. Do you mean "djab" - which is a type of spirit used in Vodou (by proper initiates)?

In either case, since this is a forum for using LM products and information, and not a general occult forum, this topic is not really appropriate here.

NEVER work with a spirit you don't know. EVER. If your spell seems to be working anyway, just keep at it, pour more intent into it, make it stronger.

wow thank you... i wrote this so long ago and i was looking at some of my old posts. Anima Sola.... i thought it was acceptable to give her a candle because isn't she the one chained in purgatory, so she loves the light? I just recently found out that the guy who stole money also stole all my jewelry and my mom's jewelry too. I was the only person willing to help him out, I never thought once he'd even try something like that. He had bought me a necklace so I never actually looked in my jewelry drawer to change what i was wearing because all that time i was wearing the necklace he had given me. He left me like 3 silver chains in my jewelry drawer. All my gold is gone and most of the silver... and my mom had some really expensive jewelry that she had bought in Hawaii. A charm bracelet she had since she was little and as certain events in her life occurred, she would add charms to it... it literally had my mom's life on it, which i was hoping to inherit.

Since this guy stole money from my acct, he's been to jail (not for the theft, but for driving with a suspended license). I've filed a police report so that i can get my money back from the bank, but its a long and painful process. Still not finalized. Now he is out of jail and in a rehab program... all that time he was stealing from me and my mom, he was secretly buying booze and getting trashed while i was at work. I actually spoke to him last night and told him about the jewelry missing, and he is denying everything... so its really a mystery where he pawned the jewelry off to. But I have a few ideas. Its a big headache, but i will be filing another police report and my mom is going to call her home insurance to see if they can do anything as well. I am cutting him from my life completely. He keeps telling me he's changed. But he just makes up more lies to cover up his original lies. One day that i went to work, I gave him money to get a oil change... and he told me that he had one... there was no oil change sticker in my window. I asked about it and he said that he was in a rush... another time he said that he told the guy at the oil change place that he didn't need the sticker. Like it sounded like a crock. At first he said that he got the oil change in a town called Chichester, but then he changed it to the Prompt-to Oil Change in the town i live in. Today I go to Valvoline, which is an oil change place. They check the oil gasket to see if it looks new or old. It is a Valvoline gasket... and they looked in their computers and see that the last time I had an oil change was back in July. It was in September that he said that he got the oil change. He lies about everything and everything. He cannot be trusted.

While travelling in the West Indies, I noticed blue bottles suspended by rope from tree branches...quite a few times. Is this some sort of bottle spell?

One sees simliar trees in the Ozarks -- it would be very interesting to know more about these trees as well. I have heard they are supposed to keep away witches and ill-will, but I would love to hear more from a reliable source. There is a sad amount of misinformation in the world and it is good to have a forum like this devoted to fact v. sensationalism. I look forward to learning more about the bottle trees of the West Indies and Ozark Mountain regions.

Are there any situations where you might want to work with demons?

There are instances when someone experienced might call upon demons to cause harm or other things. i would not recommend calling upon a demon or demanding spirit of any kind unless you are experienced in doing so. You can get hurt, and most of the times these demons attach themselves to you, and inside your body. I wouldn't just call upon them for superficial reasons such as so and so broke up with me or I want so and so to leave the workplace.

In addition, you can do an internet search to see what demons are used for. I just wouldnt want to give anyone any kind of ideas here to put themselves in harms way.

My advice is don't. Demons are tricky to work with, and they can indeed attach themselves to you. You need to have strong protection up if you're working with them, and you need enough power to be able to command them. Not everyone is strong enough to be able to handle this type of work. It's better to avoid it.

Like NotDorianGray said, working with demons is tricky and should only be done by people who are experienced and strong enough to do so. If you're unsure, don't. If you just can't stop yourself for whatever reason, do your research first or at the very least, consult a professional rootworker who can assist you.

I wouldn't say that demons are 'not actually bad'. They're essentially self serving creatures, especially the kind that you're likely to be summoning. (Please, no one try to summon The Devil... It won't work, it's stupid, and it'll blow up in your face.) Unless you know exactly what you're doing, have a good background in demonology, and have studied the Key of Solomon, don't even attempt it. You need very very good protection, for starters. And you don't so much control demons as negotiate with them... Essentially what you do is summon them into a space where they can be contained, then make a deal for what you want. You have to be very strong, unwavering and secure in your ability. You need a lot of power. If you don't know, don't do. Simple as that. If you have a curse, vengeance, or other work of a similar nature and it is justified; you can work with benevolent entities.

TL:DR - if you have to ask 'how do I control demons?', you sure as hell aren't ready to be working with them.

I second that...but now I feel like we are going to start a wave of people even being curious about summonining these entities.

If i could add my two cents, I personally have invited demons but have never COMMANDED them to do anything...i find demons are different (duh) than saints and you can't really tell them to do stuff and expect them to do it like a saint would...everyone warned me against summoning demons, but I never really thought it would be bad, so i did it and i summoned Abbadon. I felt like demons wouldn't be so good at accepting a commandment, so i didn't command it to do anything, I did however ask for help with a situation and i got really good advice on how to handle it, and i was pleasantly surprised how things worked out. I'm not sure if this is the case with everyone else, but i find if you respect and KNOW what you're calling out, i'm not too sure there are many dangers, if any...I personally never felt good at commanding demons to do my bidding, so instead i asked for advice and it worked! I don't think they are like saints and i'm not too sure demons are willing to help most everyone...I'm not sure how everyone else works with them...

If you are not TOO sure then perhaps you shouldn't be working with them. Chances are you got off easy...or you got off easy for now. And yeah it might not have been "THAT BAD" for you, but I would not even put that out here on this forum because I know someone just as curious as you. is going to think well that person got off easy...so will i. Not the case people. This is not like the IS or not paying St Expedite, and something bad happening to you. This is far worse, and you really are going to be dibble dabbling, and messing with something you have no business messing with. If you want some horror stories of demons, PM me. ANd you shouldnt NEED a scary story to decide if you should work with them or not.

NotDorianGray. I agree with you..i am waiting for that thread as well. Some people need to just need to leave well enough alone.

Seriously, this thread should be locked up now.

Abaddon is a dual-natured entity, a destructive force, but also a force of good that paves the way for new things by destroying the old. He is often described as an angelic entity, despite his destructive and demonic aspects.

i find if you respect and KNOW what you're calling out, i'm not too sure there are many dangers, if any...

You obviously don't know. And you aren't sure. So you sure as hell shouldn't be summoning anything, let alone demons. Because there ARE dangers. You're just lucky you picked the entity you did.

Agree, thread needs locking. Before someone else does something stupid.

The basis of my work is working with demons, so I feel I need to speak up.

Yes, demons can be quite kind when approached with prayer and respect, however, I would not recommend it unless you are a Satanist or otherwise aligned with the demonic. If you're not "on their side" most of the ones I've met couldn't give two shits what happens to you and will happily screw you over if it furthers their cause. They ARE smarter and more powerful than you, (why else would you be calling them up?) so if they want to harm you, they can quite easily do so.

If you're going to do this anyway, feel free to PM me because I'd rather help you do it right than withhold that information and have you piss off a demon. But please, if you're willing to listen to me then, listen now instead and don't do it at all. The demons are not angels and saints that help everyone who comes their way out of benevolence. If you're not allied with them, what business do you have asking for their help?

Alright, since working with demons is pretty outside of the realm of traditional hoodoo (not absolutely and completely, but pretty much outside of it) I am going to lock up the thread. You guys can chat about it via email and pm all you want. And I encourage you to check out the following LMC pages:
http://www.luckymojo.com/devil.html
http://www.luckymojo.com/baphomet.html
http://www.luckymojo.com/crossroads.html

These will give everyone interested a solid idea of how the devil/demons do figure into traditional hoodoo.

Good luck,

Hi guys,

I have read that St. Joseph is super helpful, if you're trying to sell a home. But, is there a patron saint to those who are seeking to buy a home?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
