looking to get back to my roots

Unread post by donitaj01 » Thu Apr 07, 2011 9:57 pm

Hello from Minneapolis. I am new to this board but not really new to the LM website and some of the writings of Miss Cat. I found the site about 8 years ago and have been using some simple candle magic since that time. I've searched for answers to life's problems and energy manifestations (personal power) in religious teachings, self help groups and just down right fortitude. Over this time I have found some answers and lots of personal comfort in some of the information I've taken from the the web site.

Thank you Miss Catherine!

I am excited to develop more knowledge and skills using hoodoo and conjure in my daily life finally! I guess I might be a little hard headed as I have gotten great results even with the little stuff I know about hoodoo.

Further, I can see now how some of my family's traditions and fears about jinxs, tricks, gambling luck and what I thought was just silly superstitions (fears of finding stuff under the bed) were really related to old school hoodoo. lol.

Examples are money left in the bible on the mantle that could not be touched, playing cards being read to tell the future and birth and/or house blessings with oils, waters or spices. And too many other examples to mention. I can not remember all the stuff I saw as a kid but I now know where some of it may have come from and remember more of it every day.

I know its a long post but I had to get it out and who else would even begin to understand what I'm talking about.

So hello everyone. I'm glad to be here.

I'm glad to welcome you here. Folks who come from a family background of conjure often find it opening up to them like a door to the past. Good for you for holding those great family forms of practice in memory and sharing them with us all.
