Hi everyone,
new Aussie member, not sure how many of us are here. I'm a witch who currently follows a traditional path, which is ever flowing and changing. My interests are in getting to the grass roots of witchcraft and magic in general (no pun intended) and part of my journey has lead me her to find out more about hoodoo. I especially like that hoodoo isn't religious as such, as I'm not. I'm not seeking to become a pratitioner but to learn what I can and take on board what would work for me, with great respect to the practice and practitioners.
Thanks,
Abraxia.

Welcome.
But, for the record, although hoodoo is not a RELIGION, it is quite RELIGIOUS in its orientation, and most practitioners are Protestant Christian. Its discovery by non African-American people through the internet has led them to claim that it is "non-religious" so that they can have the use of it in their own religions,. but the actual culture-beaerers, those who use this stuff and work with it, are mostly Black American Christians.

I respect that. From the (very) little I've read so far, a lot has a christian base to it. I have no problem with this, it's just that I am not religious and the fact hoodoo is not a religon, per se, makes me feel more comfortable with it, if that makes sense?
