Practical Magic (Greetings from Chicago)

Unread post by SatoriSought » Thu May 05, 2011 12:07 pm

Warm greetings to you all!

Though it will become evident in the generally buoyant tone of my posts to this forum, let me take a moment to first state how absolutely thrilled I am to have happened, first, upon Lucky Mojo Curio and, subsequently, this dedicated community! I can't think of a single person in the occult circles who has had anything but glowing praises for Mrs. Yronwode's products and provided services. In time, I hope to partake of her expertise (as well as that afforded by this forum) in order to become a capable practitioner of Hoodoo in my own right.

I have up to this point been involved in a number of magical and spiritual traditions (mostly ceremonial magic and various forms of Buddhism), and I'd like to think that I've learned enough from those experiences to give me a strong foundation for further pursuits. Still, I'll admit that a lot of my magical "training" and study has been either abstract or internal by nature. Don't get me wrong; the theurgy and self-improvement is essential and much appreciated, but I'd also like to explore the more pragmatic aspects of spiritual work too. This is where Hoodoo comes into play for me. I've been introduced to it through Jason Miller's correspondence course and a few texts here and there, but I believe that I am now ready to commit to the practice more formally.

So, thanks for having me and helping me toward that goal. I don't know how I got through this entire intro without mentioning the basics of who I am, but I go by the name Robert, and I'm currently studying at university in Chicago, IL. Great to be here!

Welcome I am sure you will love it here.

I must say though, theurgy is not very abstract. It has an intensely practical side ;-)
