There are different forms of divination and some forms are better suited to individuals than others. Pendulums are a great place to start as nearly anyone can learn to use it on the most basic yes/no level. That way you can have a divination tool you can use while you are learning more complex systems such as tarot. The complex systems can take a good while to learn well, and then of course you tie your intuitive gifts into it for the most insightful and accurate divinations. Depending on how quickly you learn on an academic level, along with how long it takes you to develop your intuitive talents in conjunction with that system can result in vastly different amounts of time that it will take someone to become skilled at a form of divination.

And using products like Psychic Vision, as well as learning skills such as meditation and other exercises for expanding your intuitive gifts can help you a great deal along the way. Praying to your guides to help open you up and expedite your learning can also go a long way. I found that's what really made it "click" for me.

I just started reading for a line the other day, and I want to cleanse my cards every night when I log out. Right now, I'm using salt and my breath (sprinkling salt on them, flipping the salt throughout them, then blowing the negativity away). I'd much rather use powders to sprinkle/dust them with, or incense to aerate them with. If anyone has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it.

Also, any recommendations for oils I can add to my body wash or whatnot to cleanse myself from the negativity? Again, been using salt because that's all I have on hand for cleansing right now. Thank you very kindly!

Cleansing Your Cards and Yourself After Reading

I prefer incense for cleansing items like cards -- you can do double duty by wafting them through a cleansing incense like Van Van in the evening and then a spiritually effective incense like Psychic Vision in the morning. Another method is to make a little sachet of Van Van (like a clothes sachet) and lay them on that overnight.

To calm the fraught energy you get from upset clients, spray Peace Water in the bathroom or in your reading area.

For removal of negativity from your hands and face or whole body, try Chinese Wash or a few drops of Van Van oil in your body wash.

Oh absolutely! I regularly cleanse my cards and other divinatory tools by smoking them in incense then followed up by smoking them with Psychic Vision and Master Key incense. I've also dusted by cards with Psychic Vision powder and my tray for geomancy has Psychic Vision powder mixed into the sand.

The practice as outlined by Miss cat can really help clear away and negativity you pick up while honing your inner intuitive and psychic abilities.

Thank you both most kindly. My order list just grew longer :)...but for now, I don't have Van Van or Psychic Vision or Master Key incenses. Would Money House Blessing (for the blessings to help cleanse them) or Crown of Success work as suitable substitutes until I can get my next order in and back? The only other incenses I have on hand are Money Stay With Me and Five Finger Grass.

One other question, and y'all can laugh at me all y'all want. But I live in a small apartment, and the only floors that I could use floor wash on are my w/c and kitchen. So do I sprinkle or spray Chinese Wash or other washes on my carpeted floors to cleanse them? Because it's not long till my giant fall cleaning, and I'd like to go through and really clean out all this leftover negativity and emotional distress from this household for the winter (since we'll be inside more, and it could bring fights and depressions around, like I need more of that).

Crown of Success is more all-purpose than Money House Blessing, and since you do your tatot readings out of your house, then Money House Blessing would always be a nice adjunct to any success work you are doing in that area of work -- but niether of these are for cleansing away negativity, which was the original query.

On your second question, see this portion of HITAP for spiritual cleansing on carpeted floors:

I like to sage my cards, and before I touch them I cleanse my hands with diluted ammonia, or florida water. When working with them I like to use psychic vision incense, and dab a bit of oil on my hands as well. It definitely makes a difference.

HI all,

There are a few different books LM sells for cartomancy using playing cards (as opposed to Tarot).

I would really like to learn this, and I wondered which of the books represented the most "traditional" hoodoo way of reading playing cards (I know reading playing cards is fairly new in the history of divination).

Any thoughts?

Playing card divination is about contemporaneous with the development of African American hoodoo -- that is, with the history of the United States. I like the book "The Playing Card Oracles" for a modern approach. But "The Zingara Fortune Teller," a reprint of a book from around 1900, will give you a more traditional, old-school viewpoint.

Thank you, Miss Cat.

I don't want to get too far off the beaten path for the forum, so feel free to tell me to ask elsewhere ;) but what's the basic high-level difference between Oracles having a more "modern" approach versus a more old-school one?

I agree that the best book from LM is the Pictorial Key by Waite. He is the one who designed commissioned the Rider_waite deck , it was drawn up by Pamela Coleman Smith.

Typically this card signifies two people or a relationship with a positive connotation to it.

Tarot is not my specialty, although readings I have done in the past (for others, not myself) always tend to ring very true.

I just performed a reading regarding my husbands search for employment and the result card was a 2 of cups. I've never thought of this card as being an indicator of employment, although I suppose it could be.

Could I be right or am I way off base?

I did a simple one card draw after meditating with a candle dressed in CoS, van van, and money drawing oil and on the question of whether or not hubby would find a job in the next 2 weeks. (not the best method, but was what I had time and space to do at the moment)

Rukia Fae,

I am sorry but this is a lucky mojo forum to discuss lucky mojo products. Unfortunately, it is not the place to seek general advice about hoodoo, and card readings. I would recommend that you get a professional reading done such as through AIRR www.rootworkers.org

Sometimes its better to have a professional do the reading because sometimes as readers we cannot read for ourselves clearly.

Good luck to you.

I would take that as a positive indicator for your query.

However, this forum is not for general tarot or even general hoodoo discussion, but is here to help people figure out which Lucky Mojo products would be best for their case, and how to use them. So unfortunately your post is off-topic here. There are plenty of tarot discussion groups online where I'm sure you could find some more in-depth advice.

Also, you could also invest in a $10 / 10 minute reading with an AIRR worker to help confirm or refute your own reading, and perhaps provide some more insight into the cards that you yourself pulled. http://www.readersandrootworkers.org

Years ago I had a woman in New Orleans read a "short stack" of playing cards for me instead of Tarot cards. Does anyone on here use them regularly or can compare their usefulness vs. Tarot cards. Also, which is the more traditional in conjure? I certainly like the everyday quality they have.

If you look at the readers on AIRR you'll find that we use all sorts of divination methods. From various forms of cartomancy to casting lots, astrology, Bibliomancy, and so much more. Each of these methods are just that: methods. Not anyone of them is inherently better than the other. Instead they are a means by which we communicate with Spirit, unlock our intuition, and peer into the spiritual realms to discover the ebb and flow of time and reality.

Some methods are better suited to certain situations versus others, but each system is highly versatile. Accuracy therefore is not determined by the system, but by the reader themselves.

Looking through the profiles of AIRR you'll see all the systems that we are familiar with and all the systems that we work with in our daily divinations.

Hi All,

So I've been learning/ self-teaching on different forms of divination.

Yesterday for the 1st time I tried a yes/no card method I learned, the card that came up was the Ace of Cups / Ace of Hearts (upright) - which if I understand my research, is a Yes answer.

1) Am I correct?

2) I was a bit confused because I read two different ways to do ask a Yes/No of the tarot - both are very similiar except one called for three piles of 13 card and one calls for one pile of 13 cards - unless you don't pull an Ace, then you are to start a second pile and again if no Ace - a third pile.. so if I understand that version correctly - then three piles of no Aces would be a resounding NO answer correct?

3) Can anyone recommend a good -straightfoward book on learning Tarot? I love the deck I'm using because it's pretty simple and each card has the meaning right on it, which you can use to apply to the situation you are reading about - but I will admit I'm a total novice - so for those of you who have much better knowledge or insight on good resources to learn the art of Tarot reading I would be so grateful! ETA: This is the set I am using - Cat posted it above : Tarot Cards Quick and Easy Tarot (Self-Interpreting) $20.00

Thanks and Blessings

I personally prefer Geomancy or the Pendulum for yes/no questions.

I am not fond of the these methods people try to develop for yes-no questions for the Tarot. It seems nonsensical. I much prefer, shuffle, cut, and pull three cards and you'll know whether it is yes or no.

Jen asked

1) The card that came up was the Ace of Cups / Ace of Hearts (upright) - which if I understand my research, is a Yes answer.
Am I correct?

It would depend on what you QUESTION was. For instance:

Q: Is my house in danger of going up in flames from the wildfires raging just three miles away?

A. Ace of Cups = NO. Water (rain or firefighting dumps from helicopters) will stop the fires before they reach your house.

Cutting Aces

The method i use for yes/no with cards is called The Four Aces or Cutting Aces. In order to work it, you must use PLAYING CARDS, not tarot cards. You need exactly 52 cards, no jokers, no tarot trumps, and no extra tarot court cards. Just the 52 cards.

52 divided by 13 = 4.Thus, when you have exactly 52 cards and shuffle and lay down 13, you are looking at 1/4 of the deck. You want to see if an Ace comes up in the first 13 cards (first 1/4 of the deck) or if more than one Ace comes up.

In the first pile of 13 cards:

0 Aces = No.
1 Ace = Weak yes.
2 Aces = Strong Yes.
3 Aces = Powerful Yes.
4 Aces = Yes and it will be better than you could imagine.

If there are no Aces in the first pile and you decide to go to a second pile:

0 Aces = Really no.
1 Ace = Overcome obstacles and delays and you have a maybe.
2 Aces = Overcome obstacles and delays and things will turn out all right.
3 Aces = Overcome obstacles and delays and you have a weak yes.
4 Aces = Overcome obstacles and delays and in the end you have a solid yes.

If there are no Aces in the second pile either, and you decide to go to a third pile:

0 Aces = No, and it will end in disaster.
1 Ace = Obstacles, delays, and oppositions, and if you get it, it will be worthless.
2 Aces = Obstacles, delays, and oppositions, and if you get it, you will not want it after all.
3 Aces = Obstacles, delays, and oppositions, and if you get it, it will be worth less than you hoped for.
4 Aces = Obstacles, delays, and oppositions, and if you get it, you will at least break even on it.

3) Can anyone recommend a good -straightfoward book on learning Tarot?

I would start with the original book that goes with the set you have: Pictorial Key to the Tarot" by Arthur Edward Waite. When you absorb that and the Quick and Easy Tarot deck (the deck i call "training wheels") then you are ready to move on to an unmarked deck -- the regular Rider-Waite-Smith (RSW) deck, for instance. Read more about tarot decks and books in the Forum thread on tarot -- this is the playing card thread. Thanks!

Greetings,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I am curious...I have been listening to the LMHRWH radio show. Miss Cat and Dr. K use tarot for insight into their callers issues. I am a tarot reader and a root worker...but I am not familiar with the way they use their cards. How does one learn this style?

Thank you so very much,

Miss cat reads with the Rider-Waite tarot deck and her style reminds me of the readers of my youth. She is a spiritualist and so is deeply spirit-led and her cards are more than a set of meanings. They are whole experiences. If you've ever had a reading with her you'll know she associates stories and even songs to various cards. I suggest you go get readings from her and even set up a consultation/magical coaching session or two to learn more about it.

This style speaks more to experience than anything found in books.

This deck is extremely popular with cat fanciers:

I think you learn by talking to other readers who are rootworkers - that traditional way of knowledge transmission. ;)

You could certainly hire some time with an AIRR worker for some magical coaching on their methods for reading. I know I always take notes while listening to the radio hours specifically to learn bits and pieces of their interpretations of the cards. It's deepened my own divination with tarot for rootwork dramatically.

I do know that it wasn't until I started asking my spirit guides to lead me in my readings, rather than worrying about set meanings and associations that things actually opened up and really got down to business. If that's not something you do already with your readings, you may wish to try invoking spirit guidance before each reading and see how that changes things for you.

Greetings!!!

Thank you all so very much!!!

Devil Spring...you and me both!!!! I listen to the podcasts over and over again with a notebook. They are where I was inspired to look at the cards meanings from a different perspective. Almost my entire learning has been from the traditional knowledge transmissions as you so wonderfully put it...not books.

More time communicating with my Spirit Guides on the issue is always a great suggestion. Thank you!!!

Bubbles,

Cutting Cards Versus a Layout or Spread

I use what the lady who taught me called "the Old Three Card Cut."

This method -- and its near-relations, "the One Card Cut" and the "Four Card Cut" (the latter being Dr. Kioni's method) -- are very old ways of reading. Under the general name "Cutting Cards," these simple forms of card reading are implemented with all sorts of card decks, including Euchre decks (32 cards), Oracle decks (32 or 36 cards), Spanish decks (48 cards), Poker decks (52 cards), and Tarocchi decks (78 cards), and are popular with conjure workers all over the USA.

The various "Cutting Cards" methods do not rely on a "layout" or "spread" in the way that the "Celtic Cross," "Rainbow," "Pentacle Spread," "Wheel of the Year," and other "occult" systems of card reading do -- nor are they "counted" methods in which sub-packs are formed, as is found among some of the popular European techniques of card reading.

As Ali noted, the Old Three Card Cut is quite popular among Spiritualists, but card cutting is also found among Baptist root doctors, as you can learn by reading the book "The Fabled Dr. Jim Jordan" by F. Roy Johnson.

The fact that card cutting methods are relatively little known to those who enter card reading via books that describe cartomancy according to occult and hermetic traditions is just an artifact of how well the hermetic layout methods have been promoted in books, while card cutting has remained an on-the-ground practical method used by down home workers who teach the next generation one-on-one and whose students do not rely on book learning for their education.

Here is a great old-style tarot deck, amazingly still in print after many decades:

I love talking tarot :)

When I first picked up the cards (over 12 years ago, eek!), I learned from the book that came with the deck. It wasn't a good process for me, personally. Things didn't click until I got a reading from a tarot lady who asked me to contact her teacher, Marcia. Before taking me on as one of her students, she read my cards to see if her guides and spirits agreed that it was the proper time for me to be taught.

Marcia's method is based on the Rider Waite deck, Celtic Cross spread, with some numerology and Kabbalah mixed in (Marcia comes from the Jewish tradition) and I got so much out of the class and continue to do so. Marcia also taught me to read "cuts", as we shuffle; you make the client's question known, you cut the cards and the first "cut" holds some aspect of the answer. I learned some "quick" reading methods too.

For me, when I read for a client or even for myself, the cards kind of turn on a radio signal that open up to Spirit. I can do psychometry and some other kinds of psychic work, but it's when I lay out the cards that Spirit really starts to speak to me.

Greetings,

Thank you all so very much for all of your wise and helpful input. I have been nabbing willing subjects at the shop and practicing reading from a different perspective. It has been amazingly wonderful and fun to see the way different centers are opening up in my connections.

Again, thank you all.

Cheers and Blessings,

I learned to read from my mother and she followed the tradition of Baptist card readers in our family--we use a three card cut and occasionally I use a 4 card cut. I like this style, although I know the more elaborate spreads, because it is simple, elegant, down to earth, and as miss cat said, lends itself to the widest variety of cards.

I also do a three-card cut, but for longer more involved readings I have custom spread that I've developed over the years and that help me reveal each aspect of the situation.

So depending on the situation I may do a three-card cut or I may use my custom spreads.

This is a fanciful tarot deck that long-time readers always find amusing:

I definitely favor the 3 card cut for rootwork readings. Simple and effective!

Hi shakuni,

you can read past/present/future in a three card cut. the method can also be used to provide greater insight into a single question or issue. hoping this helps ;)

that said, an experience from last night which was a first for me reminded me of this thread; particularly of a comment in it that Mary Bee made:
MaryBee wrote:For me, when I read for a client or even for myself, the cards kind of turn on a radio signal that open up to Spirit.
and I was wondering how others' experiences relate to this.

While I'd read tarot passingly as a teenager, without much seriousness, the practice dropped out of my life until about six months ago after a 15 year hiatus. I thus began giving myself a 4-card cut every evening as a way of relearning the meanings and to begin putting together the messages in the cards. Not very long after I was (and am!) listening to the Rootwork hour, adding like Devi mentioned so well, new depth and richness to the cards and to the practice of reading.

Last night, we had a girls' club meeting after work (when there are only about 10% women at the mine-site of 600 and you're there for 21 days: you stick together :D ) and, feeling ready, I brought the tarot deck with me and offered a 3 card cut to each woman as my gift (we all bring gifts for each other). I specified that I was a beginner but that I'd do my best. Turns out, I, did nothing.

It was there first time that I literally felt Spirit Speak/Move. Words and situations arose in my mind's eye in a fashion that it never had when reading for myself. The words and the readings slipped off my tongue like water over bedrock. It was a truly humbling and profound experience. Upon returning to my room I showered rubbing myself down, cleansing, and also praying thanks. It was Strange, a little unsettling, Moving and Beautiful. It cemented the relationship I was beginning to develop with the cards and has opened the door on a very interesting road to walk.

I did want to point out a valuable tool to root workers who use Divination ( I am sure most do) that Lucky Mojo is offering at a staggering good price. Madame Lenormand Fortune Telling cards. Get yourself a pack of these, some psychic oils and incense from LM, and maybe a Psychic Vision candle to create a night with fate. Although I use Tarot professionally for over 14 years, in the last two I have been using the Lenormand with great results, for my magical coaching (which I do only for myself not clients as I am saving up for Miss Cat's class to hopefully get into). The simplicity of these cards makes them excellent, to use for magical remedy. For example, there is a lady & man card. So, if you are asking about an intended target, say a woman client wants to do a reconciliation on an ex male partner. You would concentrate on the man, shuffle the cards as usual. Then flip the cards until you get to the man, take the two cards before him and after him. The two directly surrounding him show the success and the other two on each side are influencing factors. So, say you have the Mountain card then the man. This can show that there would be resistance to the work. You can alternatively ask what would do good for a client. You may receive the coffin, which could be interpreted as working with the dead, the flowers can mean a flower bath, the lily can mean working with St. Joseph, the Cross can be working with Christ. The possibilities are endless. These cards are often hard to get, but LM has them cheap and they work very well for Divination on work.

My suggestion.....go to the LM site......buy the deck of Lenormand $5. Buy a cute little Chinese Fortune Bag, buy some blue votive candles, buy some psychic oil to bless them with, buy some psychic incense to burn and a white cross, to burn with blessing oils, to bless the new cards. You can have a fun night. These cards work great for root work.

How I began was one night, I felt like someone put something on me (long story got help from Dr. Kioni & Miss Cat on this topic). So, I pulled out these cards and I asked if someone did something to me.

I used the woman *me* and when I got to her the cards were

clouds- woman - snake

By the snake which is an enemy (little white books that comes has meanings in it) and the clouds , confusion. I knew she put something there to confuse me, or cause confusion or inflammation. So, I asked what I should do. I got the coffin, which I took as work with the spirits of the dead.

This method is suggested for seasoned readers only, but it is often overlooked.

I read through some of the posts here. I wanted to also state for new beginners that Divination just like Root work, takes dedication. There really isn't any right or wrong way. Just like COnjremanAli stated, the Tarot is a tool, to inner guidance, like keys that open up a secret door. They aren't to be used at a whim. It takes years of dedication and talent. I have many nice boxes for my tarot, and the main deck I read professionally with, my Rider Waite, does not like to be in a box, lol! I just place it under the window each night. A lot of those myths, are just myths. I have read tarot for over 23 years, and I have studied it every night of my life, since I was young. I love the Tarot, and my life is dedicated fully to the study and practice of it. I have practiced root work for around 6 years, but will not perform it for customers as I don't feel I am seasoned in it enough. I know it takes years and dedication to master something it doesn't come overnight.

I have had my share of many fortune tellers in the area, being jealous and talking about me. The truth is, I am good at my craft because I spend most hours of my day on it. When I was in high school I came home every night for hours and practiced my tarot reading for hours. The Tarot is my life, and I lost friends and others because of my dedication. So, when people are jealous they must realize, that this took most of my life, and time to practice it. People don't realize it. Like Dr Kioni and Miss Cat said on the LM radio , they perfected their root work and they are the original. Sorry to vent. Look at all the hours Miss Cat had to have put into creating all the advice on this site, and the online book. for free. That is dedication to a craft.

Yes, it is. I've always liked this site, and I'm happy to find a forum here.

I actually prefer Lenormand or sometimes Kipperkarten for everyday concerns. Most people who come to you for readings want predictive readings about love and money, and Lenormand just seems better suited for those. Tarot is more philosophical, at least for me. Lenormand doesn't take up much room in a purse or pocket either, so it's handy.

I bought all my decks except one, and they work fine. I don't really do anything special to cleanse them. If they're off or just seem icky, I put them in order and then reshuffle them, or maybe leave them on the windowsill for awhile. Somebody else might be different. You have to find what works for you.

Hello everyone,

Now I understand these cards are not Tarot, they are a variation of Lenormand style cards. I own a deck and I love them!! They're used so much I've worn them out. Can anyone share their experiences while using this deck? Thank you.

I love the fact that this deck has been around for at least 100 years. I also am aware that it tends to give negative readings more often than other Lenormand style decks. Just a feature of the strange visuals on these cards, i guess.

Hi Catherine,

Yes I agree. I love how this deck has been around for over a hundred years and still going strong. I am a big fan of old fashioned decks (including the good ol' Rider Waite), and yes, it's a very odd deck. It operates like a Lenormand style oracle deck but it's also a full 52 card poker deck which makes it more of a variation than a copy of all other Lenormand decks, which are often euchre decks.

I would not advise anyone to try to read this deck with traditional cartomancy interpretations. Rather you're better off applying most of the Lenormand style reading techniques onto this deck.

In my experience The Gypsy Witch cards can give just as many positive readings as it can negative ones. I think most people get freaked out by some the negative wording and the pictures, though there is also positive wording that can indicate rich and happy life! I would not call this deck a simple deck to read despite how easy it appears. Some like myself, will feel more called to it than others.

Love.

I've tried it but haven't really got "true" answers.

Enjoy_The_Silence, I am sorry, but this is not a tarot card forum. This forum is about African Amercian folk magic, called rootwork, hoodoo, or conjure.

We do provide links to tarot readers, but you would have to pay them for a reading. See them here:

Hello,

I am addressing this question to people who practice Hoodoo and astrology. Do you work with the two aspects together? For example, while performing a divination using tarot do you combine natal charts (if available)? Do you use horary astrology in conjunction with traditional hoodoo techniques? What are your views on horary astrology?

I am just curious and like to know your views on this. Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean combine horary astrology with hoodoo techniques. Horary astrology is a method of getting yes/no answers to questiosn posed by applying astrological analysis at the birth of the question.

Perhaps you mean electionary astrology which is used to select the most astrological potent timing for an event. This can be applied to magical endeavors as well. One can elect an astrological potent time to work a particular conjure like love, blessing etc.

The use of astrology as a means of divination is not unheard of in hoodoo and there have been some notable astrologers among conjure doctors. At AIRR, Miss cat, Deacon Millett, myself, Susan Diamond, and I believe Valentina Burton all practice astrology.

Simpler forms of electional astrology is common practice in terms of timing the work according to planetary days, hours and lunar phases.
If you can not see clearly with one divinatory method, you use another at your disposal. What matters is the result. If you do not feel a certain spell has sufficient power and the knowledge of astrology is at your disposal you pick a suitable timing to enhance your work.
And as Conjureman Ali said, some offer this as a divinatory service to clients.

Thank you CM & Dr. Johannes for your answers! :)

I have had a horary 'reading' a couple of times and I was given a time frame of when a certain event can happen. What I meant to ask was, can spiritual workers give a more accurate time frame while doing a divination using Tarot and their knowledge of Horary astrology?

Thank you!

artsie wrote:... What I meant to ask was, can spiritual workers give a more accurate time frame while doing a divination using Tarot and their knowledge of Horary astrology?...
Your question is upside down. Some spiritual workers can tell you on the minute when a baby is going to be born, when a person will die and anything that is firmly set in fate and time. And this without using anything else than their divinatory spirit or by tossing a few twigs on the ground. Horary astrology, like all other tools of divination is just that - a tool.

The gift of being a seer is not in the tool.

The right side of the question can look like this: "Can I, artsie, use give a more accurate time frame while doing a divination using Tarot and my knowledge of Horary astrology?"

For that to be answered correctly you may need to do a divination. :-)
Try combining your natal chart with horary astrology and so on and see if this will be revealed.

If not - well you could always put this question when ordering a reading from Deacon Millet: http://www.readersandrootworkers.org/in ... on_Millett

A belated Thank You, Darth Rosa, for your "review" of the Gypsy Witch Fortune cards. These were the ONLY thing even remotely "witchy" "Halloween-like" or "spooky" I had ever seen inside (or even near) my very strict Lutheran grandparents house. they belonged to my aunt and, apparently, had not been found by my grandparents! I enjoyed reading your take on the cards and why you like them.

I was just wondering, when you're doing a tarot card reading, Cat, do you use reversals?

Thanks.

Reading (and Not Reading) Reversals

I do not read reversals and have not done so for decades.

When i was young, i first learned to read with playing cards, and they read the same both ways. There are no reversals.

When i got my first Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck, i did use the reversals, as per the teachings of Arthur Edward Waite, because the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot is what is called a "one way deck" -- it has an "up" and a "down."

Then i switched to the Marseilles deck and other forms of tarot, and many of them are a combination of a "both way deck" (on the suit cards) and a "one way deck" (on the court cards and trump cards), and it felt weird to read reversals on some cards and not on others, so i stopped reading reversals.

I eventually settled on the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck as my favourite, but by then i had stopped reading reversals, and never took up that technique again.

In response to the overwhelming interest in the Tantric Dakini Oracle cards, which Deacon Millett of AIRR used during his guest appearance on the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour (originally broadcast in October, and rebroadcast as our Christmas archive show), i am happy to say we have this amazing photo-collage deck and book set back in stock!

There are 65 cards in this set (64 for the Dakinis and 1 for the Fool (Shiva), plus a 224-page book. The layout and reasoning between the number of cards in the set is loosely based on the Temple of the 64 Dakinis in Asia. The artwork is amazingly photo-collaged and provides beautiful, surrealistic, sexy, psychedelic, and insightful responses to sincere queries. (Originally published in 1979 as the Secret Dakini Oracle by Nik Douglas and Penny SLinger, now in print as the Tantric Dakini Oracle, with the same art and a more descriptive title.)

Wow, now that's service! It's nice to hear that Lucky Mojo is carrying these cards again, as they caused quite a commotion on the show and in the chat. Very nice!

This is great news! I will start telling my reading clients where they can get their own deck. :D
