Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
The wrapping is not the same as a spell remnant. I would not bother with ritual disposal of such myself, but some people do. No harm either way, is my opinion; do what you feel best doing.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
The problem with the ants is not from a hoodoo perspective as much as a plant perspective. Some ants can be very harmful to the plant. Therefore I wouldn't choose to do that. If I wanted to spread the sweetness through ants I would empty it near a nest, in a forest, park or yard.starsinthesky7 wrote:Ants are actually okay as they can carry messages, and are great communicators. Ants are also great to inflict pain (red ants), and cause other problems.
So I know you don't want to pursue this man, but even if there is a small chance of bringing him to you ants and burying it near your home still may help you. Leave that up to the universe.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Good Morning,
I am new and I have a question. Tonight I finish my 3x Mojo Love Bag spell. The directions enclosed tell me to toss the remains in flowing water. However, now I am confused. Isnt flowing water for taking something away? I have preformed this spell for a specific person to love me, not to go away from me. Shall I just do the spell as instructed? Thank you for any help and explanation.

No, some old traditional love spells involve sending the prayer out to the world by tossing it into the river. You can reference works like the ones with Job's Tears and Tonka Beans.

Thank You ConjureMan Ali,
I am doing alot of reading on the forum, and online (waiting for Miss Cats books to arrive) and I got a little confused. I ended up following the directions and tossing it into the river last night.
I appreciate your help.

I like to light the next vigil light just before the other one ends. So you are literally keeping the work continous.
You don't have to start the next candle on that specific day. However if you want it to start on a specific day then start the FIRST candle on that day.

How would one start working with ants? I have a pretty busy area in my bathroom where they seem to congregate (very small ants). I don't have any desire to kill them, but where would I start with them if I wanted to implement them into my work? I have a long distance case I'm working on right now.

I finished a skull candle spell this morning, wondered how to dispose of the wax... Found the answer I was looking for right here

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
You'd have to find their nest. I was taught one way to have ant's carry a message for you and it goes like this. At dawn go to the ant's nest and speak tot hem, ask them in the name of God to carry your message to whoever, then thank the ant's and leave three sugar cubes for them. Do this three days in a row. Obviously you have to speak your targets full name, and if you know where they are, mention that as well.artemis wrote:How would one start working with ants? But as to what to do with the ones in your home? Get them out, lol. Well, you could kill and dry them to use in spells, the spells they could be used in depend on the ant, but you said you'd rather not kill them.

What are other options for disposing bath water besides walking 2 the crossroads & throwing it over your shoulder?
Living in the city of Miami, especially where I am, would be difficult 2 do without people around. I'd probably have to drive a good hour to do this.
Thx ; )

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
I am doing a Come to Me bottle spell and when the spell is finished I was planning to keep it around to shake it until I feel the work is completed. After that I was wondering if I want to keep him close to me could I put the remains in a mojo hand and add in lodestones or something to attract and keep it in my room or would it be better to bury it as the spell advises? Thanks!

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
I would not take the spell apart and use it in a mojo, you could but I would rather keep it in your bedroom. Make a little altar-place with the bottle and a picture of the two of you or bury as advised.
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Thank you I will do that!
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hi,
I try to read the forum threads (though some are incredibly long) from beginning to end to find a solution to my problem before posting a question. I know that this question of disposing vigils has been beaten like a dead dog but I am still a bit confused on disposal. I was reading http://www.luckymojo.com/layingtricks.html because again I want to find the solution before bothering with a question that could have easily been answered had I taken the time to look. I came across the following written by Cat:
"Another question i am often asked is, "What shalli do with the glass containers left over after i have finished burning glass-encased hoodoo vigil lights or novena lights for Catholic Saints?" The answer is simple: If your petition was granted and you like the image on the candle label, you may carefully clean out the glass tube and use it as a flower vase on the altar. You can also use it for storage, placing cling-wrap or aluminum foil over the top and securing it with a rubber band in the groove at the top of the glass. But if you burn a lot of lights, you will eventually run out of the need for glass flower vases and storage containers, and then the best thing you can do -- for yourself and for the environment -- it to clean the candle glasses out and recycle the glass."
Now the part about if the petition has been granted. Now I am very very new and I am burning a compel /command/control candle. Now I have also read that as a rule you can look for signs after 3days for results. So do I keep the glass casing around for at least 3 days for signs that the petition as been answered as I understand every situation is different and results may or may not be seen immediately, or can I recycle right away after the candle has completed the burn?
I would just like a bit of clarification there. Thanks to all who reply.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Just wanted to quote this. I think it was Black Elk who once said something along the lines of, "The power in any act or ritual is in the understanding of it's meaning". This is a clear and excellent example of that.ConjureMan Ali wrote:Disposal is more than tossing something in the trash. Please bear in mind that when we "dispose" of a work we aren't getting rid of it, we are taking it back into the every day world. It is an act that takes the privacy of prayer and spiritual work and directly ties it into the world we live it. We disperse from us and bring things to us at the crossroads, we send things away by the flow of water, we fix things into the ground by buring it, we invoke the spirits of the dead to help us by burying at a graveyard and so on and so forth. These are more than symbolic acts--these are powerful ways of harnessing the power of the natural world and bringing it into our work, or perhaps taking our work to the natural world. These traditions cannot be done away with without taking something valuable away from the work.
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
This question just popped into my head as I was reading through this thread... how would you properly dispose of the remains from a 3 candle moving spell (such as moving a target away from one person and towards me). Would you bury the entire remains in your yard, or would you separate out the remains of the person you want the target to move away from and dispose of them separately, since you don't want that person around any longer?

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
TeamTwig, evidently you do not understand the way this spell works, because the candle that is moved away is delierately snuffed out (in water or graveyard dirt or crossroads dirt, depending on your intention0. It is not part or portion of the other candles, which remain burning while you dispose of the third candle.
I suggest that you study hoodoo in its entirety rather than just trying to dissect one spell at a time. There is a certain style to our working that makes sense when you do the work, and which takes time to learn and understand. In this case, as in many other spells, any candle that is deliberately extinguished is disposed of while the other candles still burn. The reason for this is that you are symbolically removing that person or persons from the situation.

Thank you for the clarification... You're right, I am a novice, and learning all the time - this site is fantastic. I have not done "love work" before, and was just wanting to understand the spell... it's from here: http://www.luckymojo.com/breakup.html and in the "instructions" provided, it was not clear that you are to dispose of the intruder candle separately. Always learning!

I have decided to keep my vigil candle glass and put an "ivy" (Golden Pythos) in it. I may pass it on to someone...but they will not know what the real deal is because I will remove the labels.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
My back yard doesn't feel right. The trees die and things in the back part of the house tend to break or malfunction.
The only explanation I've found is in Feng Shui, since the back yard faces a church with an attached funeral home, so I probaby need to get a Ba Qua mirror or something of that nature. I don't bring that up to hijack the thread from Hoodoo (which also incorporates a few Chinese elements, but probably not this one) my question is:
Until I can purchase the Ba Qua/cures (I'm paying down some bills at the moment) there are some candle rituals that require burying the remnants in the back yard.
If the back yard is a dead zone, should I be burying them someplace else?
What if I buried them beside the shed in such a way that the shed was blocking the church and mortuary?

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
The trees may be dying because of landscape chemicals. This is an issue which is in the news these days. Certain lawn care herbicides are being recalled because they are killing trees, especially pines and firs. It could be that part of your problem is environmental toxins that need a different approach than magic or feng shui. Good luck with reviving your dead zone.
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Thanks...that occurred to me, I always look for mundane causes first. Environmental toxins are a strong possibility but they don't explain the malfunctioning kitchen sink, boom boxes,TVs, etc...pretty much anything on the west wall of the house. I agree the soil could be borked, though, or there could be an issue with the power lines. I'm sure there could be complex things at work and not JUST bad Feng Shui. Don't have the cash to get the soil tested so I'm kind of stuck, but in the meatime I just want to dispose of my candle wax for max benefit.imjewell wrote:The trees may be dying because of landscape chemicals. Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Perhaps you could use the advice given to apartment dwellers and bury your items in a pot of dirt until such time as you are settled in your mind about the condition of your back yard. Since you have space outdoors, your pot could be on your patio or placed anywhere on your property. You can buy a bag of potting soil from the garden center. That way you can complete your work and move on to other things. Peace and good luck, Stelz.
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Perfect! I already have a half dozen potted plants here & there, and a few pots with just soil, waiting for new plants. Thanks for this, will do!
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hello dear Hoodooers. Hope I'm asking this question in the right panel.
A while back someone gave out a spell for protection for her family. The spell was to get a 4" candle, cut it into 4 pieces of 2" each, and place them into a LM bottle in peace water and oils, also to name each candle as if it was a person; this spell was listed in the hints and tricks section of this forum. (which is no longer available I see).
well, I did the spell.
Now I like to dispose of it and need to know what to do with these candles which are inside the bottles in peace water, run devil run oils, and my children names written on it.
I'm afraid to dispose of it the wrong way because I'll be doing more harm to my children then good.
Please help me with this, it'll be so much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Shery

If it is for protection, then bury it in your front yard, at the four corners of the house or keep them near the entrance inside your house.

I tried a search to locate the spell you identified with no success for now, the moderators are moving posts in their appropriate locations to better serve customers who are looking for guidance, but anyway, I want to add this link. Cat discusses several methods of laying down and disposing of ritual remains. You might want to keep this in your notebook.

I finished a 9-day Uncrossing/Cleansing bath series last night, and I have a bottle of water from all the baths I took saved for disposal. Where do I dump it??? I live in an apartment on a busy street (even @ night) so I'm waiting till nightfall to get rid of it, but I'm not sure where. A crossroads? Into a river? down the storm drain? I have access to all of these options once the sun goes down and the moon comes up, but I"m not sure which is most effective.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
hapinys, If your bath if for good things, it is common to dispose of the water in your own front yard. In the old times this was done by tipping your bathtub to the East and letting the water flow out that way.

Turkituck, i have no idea where you got the idea of "saving" and accumulating bathwater, but this is not something that is traditional in conjure work. In fact, i have never heard of it before, and i have been practicing hoodoo for about 49 years now.
A nine day bath ritual is just that -- nine days of bathing and disposing of bath waters. It is WORK. We really do call rootwork "work" for more than one reason. Just saving up bathwater and disposing of it all at once is not "right" to me -- it's like cheating at the work. Like, i dunno ... like leaving your dishes unwashed for nine days in the sink and then washing them all at once, rather than washing up after every meal. It's "spiritually dirty" feeling to me, and also feels ineffective and just totally wrong.
Now, i am not the pope or queen or commander-in-chief of how this tradition is practiced, and just as i am sure that there are people reading this forum who let their dishes sit around dirty in the sink for nine days, i am equally sure that there are people who let their dirty bathwater sit around for nine days as well -- but no one yet has asked me what to do about it, or asked me which form of disposal is "most effective" -- because as far as "effectiveness" goes, that would depend in large part on the purpose of the baths. If you want to bless yourself and your house, you would toss the water East on your own property at Sunrise, and if you wanted to remove a sense of spiritual disease, you might pitch the water West at sunset or into a crossroads....
...but storing your bathwater for nine days is so far off my map of magical practices that i will not venture any further opinions, for fear of causing offense with an inconsiderate outburst.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
I know that saving a bit of the water isn't part of really any spiritual practice. The best answer I can give you is It felt like the right thing to do to throw ALL of the gunk out at once, and that meant putting a bit of water into a bottle over the course of the bathing. It also helped me to keep track of how long I had to go before it was over. Kind of an experiment to see if it would effect the Work, and the baths certainly helped, now the final step is to just ditch the physical embodiment of all the crud I got rid of.
I"m sorry if my experimental method upset anyone, I mean no disrespect to conjure work at all. I have great respect for rootworking and incorporate a lot of methods and formulas into my own practice, but I'm no conjure worker in the traditional sense. And every now and then I try to see if I can make it more my own flavor and see what works.

Oh, no offense, Turkituck (now Tallahsheena), but if you are not really into practicing traditional conjure, then coming here to ask tranditional conjure workers about our methodology seems like a waste of your time and ours. I mean, we will just tell you what we know and do, and you will ignore it. We will not be changing our methods to suit your way, nor will you be changing your methods to accord with our way, so, as they say in Wicca, merry meet and merry part, or words to that effect.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hello,
I burn a lot plain white 7 day ancestor Candles and Cast of Evil candles
I understand that I am suppose to take the remains to the crossroads, and leave it in the middle of the street. However I live in NYC, I am concerned with leaving a glass jar (or a plastic white bag which is what i usually do, tied 9 times) in the middle of a crossroads/or Intersection. It could see this being problematic for me and the taxis. I would hate for someone speeding to spin out of control and hurt somone
Plus with so many "eyes" in NYC, and with a cop on almost every corner , it would be difficult to get away without being seen.
So what I have been doing was taking my white bag tied 9 times to the crossroads, Facing the west but throwing my bag under my arm to the east into the trashbin at the corner of the crossroads.
However I read in another post that to through it away in the trash is rude.
Please help

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
You wrote, "I understand that I am suppose to take the remains to the crossroads, and leave it in the middle of the street," but, Hon, whoever told you to leave glass candle jars in the street hasn't got the kind of practical know-how that we all use in daily conjure.
First of all, those glass candles only became part of USA conjure practice in 1976, so when old timers like me say, "dispose at a crossroads," we are NOT talking about glass jars! We are talking about a little puddle of wax or some left-over incense powders.
Second, if you follow this forum, you will find that the real workers here, not the dilettantes, will tell you every time: RECYCLE YOUR GLASS JARS. I mean, if you burn glass-encased candle, sure, put it somewhere -- but we burn 100 per week at Missionary Independent Spiritual Church! You think we take 'em all down to the corner of Cover Road and Highway 116 and just leave 'em there? No way! There wouldn't be a car able to get through the intersection if we did that!
So stop fretting, recycle your glass, and do right by the Earth!
I am adding this to the same old thread on recycling glass candles.

Thank you Cat,
I guess I misunderstood, what was meant by remains. I feel a lot better now.

Does it makes a difference if its a busy cross road or not? My house is the 3rd from one, but its a residential area and very busy.
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Dr. Johannes: I'm so sorry for not informing you sooner. I do feel more confident now that the spell's buried, it served its purpose and still is working. thank you for your kind input.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
How do I dispose candles, pictures, etc used for enamie work ounce done?
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Quick questions!
Can you bury love candles/reconciliation candles in the yard of the intended. Im working a spell for a friend of mine and he does not have a backyard and does not want his parents to find ritual remains in household plant pots. He suggested burying it in the girls backyard or front yard-
Is that possible and what effects will it have on the spell? Will it be the same as burying in your own backyard/frontyard? I never thought about it before, really.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hi
I'm finishing up my first LMJ money drawing kit tonight ( great artisinal quality to everything bty) and it says to wrap the remainding wax etc in a red cloth and bury it near the front door but I live in the city where this is not an option. I have heard about planting this inside under a potted plant but that is not feasible either. i do have a back yard where I could bury it. I also live near a mighty river. What should I do? Thanks

K. I found the answer. Never mind

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
I also had a question about what to do with candle remains for other person. My sister asked me to do some work for her and she lives in Europe and I am in the States.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hi ..I wanna know how to dispose bath water after negative and positive working or when I am trying to attract something or when I am trying to repel something to be done? Another question is there any alternative when it comes to throwing bath water at the crossroads? When I throw bath water should i be throwing it from my left or right and which direction I should be facing and what time of the day? In other words if someone can tell me all the info when it comes to disposing bath water then that would be really helpful .Thanks in advance.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hi
I have a small problem.
I went to dispose of my spell remains today at a stream and by accident I looked back to see if the remains actually went into the lake.
Their was a lot of brush and tall grass nearby and I checked to see that it did in fact go in the water.
I didnt want to look back but my sister made me turn around to look. Blehh
Well anyway, just want to double check to see if its ok that I looked back or do I have to do the spell all over again. I yelled at my sis for making me look again, dont know why I listened to her.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
This is a common question, and always asked by those who somehow cannot control their eyes. And if you cannot control your eyes, you sure can't control your mind.
Speaking of your mind, listen to how you have contradicted yourself, too:
1) It was "by accident."
2) You were "just checking"
3) Your sister "made you do it.
Looking back indicates a failure of resolve and always undercuts your work. You really did not want to finish with it. Now you will have to do it over again.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hi, I read everything about ritual disposal, but havent come up to this: what to do with the herbs, incense, wax when you do something for a person that lives on a different continent?
I ask this because my sister likes me to do some love, school and money work for her - am I suppose to mail her the leftovers?

If she is your client -- whether or not she pays for the work -- then you should do the entire job of work for her, including disposal of ritual remains as you are her proxy or stand-in

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hi everyone,
After doing a love spell, can I bury the wax and picture remains in my backyard even if my pets are buried there? I read this can be done if you want the spirits to work on your target or if you want to curse someone. Or is this only done if you want the spirits to work on someone you want to curse?? I'd rather NOT have the spirits of my pets work on him. Would it make a difference if I bury the wax and stuff in the opposite side of my yard so they won't work on him? I feel yard burial for love spells is more effective than tossing it into a crossroads. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
You are confusing graveyard work with general burying of remains. To get spirits involved in a work you have to ask them to be involved, and pay them for their involvement. If you are not asking and paying, then you're not involving spirits.
Just bury it in your yard - no need to worry about the spirits of your pets somehow randomly getting involved. Otherwise, the spirits of all the dead insects and worms and bacteria in the soil of your yard could somehow also be getting involved, and that just doesn't happen!
You may wish to read up a good deal more on ritual disposal of remains, and also on graveyard work so that you can have a more clear understanding of how and why different forms of disposal are done. That way you can work with more confidence, and without confusion or worry.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Its getting cold in MI here and the ground getting harder to dig. I was wondering should I keep the remains from good work wrapped somewhere in the house till warmer weather comes or should I just suck it up and go bury the things?
Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Hello all!
I am burning a road opener glass encased candle to remove blockages for on-going reconciliation purposes. This is the first time I am burning a road opener candle. I will be cleaning and re-using the glass holder, but I was unsure of what to do with the wax remains and the petition paper. For road-opener work should I dispose it off at a crossroads? Or bury it on my property as it is to remove blockages for love and reconciliation work? Any insight will be appreciated! Thank you

I would dispose of Road Opener work at a crossroads.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
Thank you for your response Devi!
With the petition paper, I was wondering if it would be okay to burn it on the last remnants of the candle flame. I could then collect all the wax residue and the ashes and dispose them off at a crossroads.

Re: Disposal of Ritual Remains Questions and Answers
I have completed the red candle and lodestone love spell and was wondering how soon after completion of the spell must the candle remains be disposed of, and is it correct to wrap the wax up in paper and bury it in the front garden?
Thanks
