I would like to make a deeply heartfelt thank you to St Anthony and St Jude. I requested during novenas for a pass in exams (which was near impossible). By the power of prayer and the assistance from these great saints my request was answered. I will never forget and will be forever greatful. Thank you. XX

Hello to everyone on the LM boards! I was curious if I couldn't get your thoughts on something.

I was interested in forming a relationship with a saint, and was hoping someone could clear up a question I had. I've been reading into different saints and their associations, and saw mention on one website that Saint Anthony was not only called upon to find lost things, but was also the patron saint of those trying to lose weight. Any credibility to this claim?

I've lost around 65 lbs and have a good 30 left to go before I'm at goal. I've been stuck, struggling at this point for over a year and am looking for any help I can get.

I also am aware that Saint Sebastian is the patron saint of athletes. I was curious if perhaps I could call upon him to lend me his stamina, energy, etc. Not too long ago I was exercising 6 days a week, a few times a day. I probably kept this up for a month or two before I just started to become lazy and lethargic again. I loved the way I felt when I was that active, and I want to find my way back to that again.

Any thoughts?

Would it be considered rude or condescending to petition the saints with such menial requests?

Please let me know.

Wynn, I am not familiar with your theory of Saint Anthony. Saint Anthony is the Patron Saint for missing items (lost persons, estranged lovers...etc. etc.) and Safe Travel because he traveled widely.

On their website they state St. Anthony is the patron of those trying to lose weight. Just curious if anyone else had heard this?

Sorry, Wynn, I too have never heard of anyone petitioning Saint Anthony for weight loss.

Think about it: Saint Anthony RETURNS lost things and lost people. He does not cause them to GET LOST. Hence, to me, he is the OPPOSITE of a weight loss saint -- he would help you find the weight you lost and would cheerfully RETURN it to you!

There's all kinds of stuff on the internet that is neither traditional nor well thought out.

And some people just venerate one saint so much they give that saint all new superpowers! LOL.

Too true. Not everything you read is going to be accurate, or even close to factual. Thank you Catherine, and everyone else, for clearing this up for me!

In your opinion, would it be appropriate to try to call on St. Sebastian for assistance in fitness matters? I've just started a running program & it would be great to have someone backing my progress.

Then again, I might be better off with St. Expedite, as I'm a huge procrastinator. Lol.

Man... I need to work with Saint Sebastian for this fitness lol! But I love Saint Anthony. My friend recently lost his Dj Equipment which was STOLEN. Some idiot posted it on craigslist. Can someone clarify for me which colour of candle should be used to petition Saint Anthony - I've read on this forum that brown should be used and also, somewhere, that it should be white!

I know that in wiccan traditions a white candle can be used to replace any other colour of candle - is it the same in hoodoo? Its almost impossible to get small brown candles here!!

White is used for any type of devotional work, contacting spirits, works of blessing, and of a similar nature. White can be used for petitioning saints, or you can use the color that have come to be associated with them, like brown for Saint Anthony.

Was having one of those mornings.... when one is running late and everything seems to go wrong. I could not find my keys, my sneaker, and an important piece of paper.

Poor St. Anthony patiently helped me find one after the other. I was so embarassed to have to keep asking him for help. In the end I safely made it to work on time with all of my lost items returned to me:)

I've been petitioning Saint Anthony, Saint Jude and Saint Expedite for love work but my financial situation suddenly deteriorated at the beginning of the week - I asked that they help me out, I received a refund of bank charges after a financial advisor rang me out of the blue - I have given them all donations in their names, published their names on this forum and given Saint Expedite and Saint Anthony flowers - only one each as the amount I got wasn't what I'd asked for - do you think that will be alright for now?.

I am not sure why I was getting so worked up about locating some labels and a black candle. Maybe it was because I needed to label my herbs as I was boxing them away and I just wanted everything to be orderly. Moreover, I needed the black candle for tomorrow. I felt quite guilty asking you for help in locating these items, but you helped me tremendously this evening and I am very thankfull. Now I can relax and chill out and continue cleansing any negativity from my home with my LM uncrossing powder!

I had lit a St. Anthony vigil candle a few weeks ago to help return my ex to me. 5 mins after I lit the candle, I had found my missing earring. Lol. I had been searching for it for almost a week. It just "appeared" on my sofa in the same spot I sit in every day! Thank you St.Anthony!

Sorry to revive this topic, but I figured it was better to put it here than make a whole new post:

Someone mentioned to me a method for getting a lover back that involves St. Anthony, and I was wondering if anyone else here had ever heard of it, or had ever actually used it and what their level of success was with it?

What I was told was you get a statue of St. Anthony and have it blessed by a priest. Then you get a picture of your lost love, and write their full name and birthdate on the back of the photo, along with a petition- "St. Anthony, bring him/her back to me" or such. You tie the picture to the statue with a brown ribbon, and then get a plate, putting the statue in the center of it and covering the rest of the plate with brown sugar. Then you turn the plate so that St. Anthony is facing the direction your love lives in(if they live in a part of town west of you, you turn the plate west, etc). Each day when you wake up you sprinkle the plate and statue with holy water, and then again at 3 PM, and once more before you go to sleep. At 3 PM every day you'll also light a brown candle to St. Anthony, praying for the return of your lost love.

There is also a method of disposing of the remains of your work once your lover is returned to ensure they stay, but what I'm wondering is if anyone has heard of, or done this kind of work before, or something similar? I've never heard this before, so I'm curious.

I have definitely worked with Saint Anthony to bring back a lost lover of my clients. Again, this was not done forcefully as he is not a forceful saint. But he will bring them back if the person is meant to be with you, and the person is the right person for you to be with.

I have never heard of this method with St. Anthony, but I am not discounting it either. There are many different ways you can work with a particular saint.

I would try this method and lets us know how it goes.
