I am from Brazil and have been studying Hoodoo since 2008, by myself, through Yronwode's books, websites and other writers too. I fell in love with Hoodoo mainly because I found out it has numerous similarities with African-Brazilian magical systems (although I know Hoodoo is a system and a Tradition in itself and should not be mingled with others... it should be kept as it is... nevertheless the connections are impressive and made me want to go deeper into reading more about it). I have over 25 years of experience with African-Brazilian traditions, and I run a small esoteric businness in Rio de Janeiro, together with my husband, who is an author in the "occult" in other areas. We have been studying magic for many many years and I can say Hoodoo works beautifully for me.
I just love the way that curios are worked and Conjure made my life better, because when I burn a candle or make a petition I feel connected with the spirits and my true self. I hope I can learn, share and gather with the African-American Rootworkers and other practitioners if you would please accept me here.
My mother is brazilian and my father is Irish. In Brazil we have a great mixture of Indigenous, African and European peoples, thus making a wonderful culturally rich country. I also have great respect for the USA and for it's great cultures and people. I hope we can share precious personal experiences.
