I first heard of Cat & the Lucky Mojo business through Christine Wicker's book "Not in Kansas Anymore." Has anybody else read that? I love it!
I've been interested in all things 'paranormal' since I was little - at 9, my brother and I were trying to establish a telepathic link, but I was introduced to Hoodoo only while reading the aforementioned book at age 17. It really struck my fancy, and I've been doing what tricks I can around the house and dorm ever since.
I personally read tarot cards and I Ching, and am looking into this forum as a chance to gain more knowledge about herbs, roots, and other curios, and also to connect with magickally inclined folk.
I've noticed that some folk around here are real sticklers about what 'counts' as hoodoo or not. I'll be frank, that kind of thing sticks in my craw. Hoodoo, like so many things in America, is a hodgepodge. It's folk magick, and we - meaning all of us - are the 'folk.' We do it, so we define it. Trying to stick to an objective, static, "authentic" orthodoxy of practice strikes me as futile, especially with a living, breathing tradition like hoodoo. . . Sorry. I'll stop ranting before someone hexes me.
I have every intention of visiting the Lucky Mojo shop in the physical realm one of these days. Some friends from college are moving to San Fransisco, so maybe I'll nip over & get them a *charming* housewarming gift.

Peace & Love to all of you!
