Catholic Saint Painted Bottle Spells Questions and Answers

Unread post by rpir09 » Fri Nov 12, 2010 7:03 am

hi everybody,
i am sooo happy I received a huge LM order after all. I guess I have a lot of work now. I have already 3 questions.
1) St expedite bottle spell.
I gave this to my 17 year old son, sice he was really excited with St. Expedite and offers candles every Wednesday. Unfortunately I do not have any florida water or Hoyot cologne to fill in and seal. Is there a suitable oil for filling in this bottle? I was thinking of sweet almond or olive oil with drops of fiery wall of protection, wisdom and success since he is sitting university entrance exams next year and I am sure that his wish has to do with this.
2. st Joseph spell kit.
I want to sell a piece of land on the central square of an urba area, so I think it is impossible to burn cadles there. Can I perform the candle buring at home (it is not ear the land for sale) and then burn the statue i the piece of land?
3. honey jar
I have already 3 jar spells going for three differet persons. I started them since I saw somewhere in the forum that you can ope them and add ingrediets. Should I put the ingrediets loose into the honey or fish the wish paper out and add new elements?
Your suggetions will be highly appreciated

1) St. Expedite is great for you son at school since he helps prevent procrastination! I would order some Florida Water or Hoyts from Lucky Mojo so you put the bottle together the way it is intended.
I wouldn't use Fiery Wall oil with a St. Expedite bottle - just use St. Expedite oil. If you want your done to have a wisdom and protection and success, then I would make a completely different bottle or mojo for that purpose. It just doesn't make sense to put all that stuff in a St. Expedite bottle.

If you (or your son) want to petition St. Expedite in his role as patron saint of procrastinators to help with that aspect of his schooling, then you could perhaps dress candles with an appropriate success/wisdom oil when you are petitioning him for that, but I would not try to fill up his bottle with all kinds of different things for different purposes.

Well, we do not know what your honey jars are for so we cannot tell you if you should change them or not. You would need to tell us what each one is for, and then why you would want to change them.

Thank you both for your helpful advice. I would like to make a couple of clarifications.
I started the honey jars two of them for money and one for love attraction. However I had a limited range of herbs like ciannamon and basil for money and rose petals for love. ow that my supplies have arrived should I open up the lids and add all the relevant herbs?
As for st. Joshua the problem is that I can ot burn candles in the open air in the middle of a crowded area.

What size candles are used with the "Bottle Spells"? The 4 in. or 6 in. Thanks in advance.

Hello All,
Recently thought of getting or making (leaning more towards buying) a bottle spell (unfixed) of sorts as more of a way to honor and praise some of my patron saints and their presence in my life, namely St. Martha and St. Cyprian, and adding stuff to the bottle itself to add a more personal touch to the ritual.

However, I realized that I actually don't have much of a clue as to what to add and/or do to the unfixed bottle

Any ideas and suggestions as to proper herbs, curios, etc. to put into the bottles that anyone could tell me about would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I love devotional bottles. I have five that I work with often. My suggestion is to use a jar or bottle that you have used yourself. I paint the outside of mine to a correspondence color to the Saint I am working with. For instance I use red for St. Expedite or purple for Fortuna. Next I glue one of my favorite images of the Saint I am working with to the front and trim it with beads or something fancy. I personally like to draw runes in the lid or write words of love and devotion.
I meditate at my altar and consider the herbs, roots and bones that would best reflect my relationship with the Saint not something that comes out of a book. Here is another example: when I made a bottle for Santa Muerte, I filled it with cypress, cedar and sandalwood chips. I place my petitions to her and let the aroma infuse my petition. I will sometimes close up the jar and place a beeswax candle on the lid while I pray.
However you create your bottle or jar will be exactly what needs to be because you did it from a place of love and devotion. I am sure the Saints will be please.
Best of Blessings,

I have found a lot of work on how to get back and old job or find a new job, but I am in need for finding quality and loyal employees. Also, my business sells travel packages to volunteers that come and work on my projects in schools in Latin America. The sale of these packages is how I pay my employees, maintain the foundation and provide school supplies and basic needs to my students. Because this work is not only financial, but that the turn over for volunteers is constant, I feel that the work needs to be consistent. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am planning on putting together a St. Expedite bottle spell to get some volunteers ASAP because we are in desperate need. I have a pretty extensive herb collection, however very limited oils. Power and Control are the only ones that I have that might be relevant, and all saints. Some guidance on this would also be very helpful.

I feel like most of my experience has been in cleansing, road opening and some gentle love work. I need to be proactive about this situation as it not only affects me but the well being of many. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Good choice.
I have a pretty extensive herb collection, however very limited oils. Power and Control are the only ones that I have that might be relevant, and all saints. Some guidance on this would also be very helpful.
Start with All Saints, and use it along with Attraction and Crown of Success. Stay away from Control. Power is not only for mastering others, but for mastering yourself. Use it with that intent.

Start a little lodestone altar with two lodestones: one for sales and the other for good employees and volunteers. Add a cinnamon stick, an angelica root, and a piece of cedar for the lodestones to work with.

You can make a bath and/or floor wash with the same herbs, too, and dress purple or yellow candles with them.

Switch up with some blue Tranquility candles from time to time, because there's a lot of stress in the helping professions.

Good luck,

Thank you. I like the idea of starting a lodestone alter. I have all of those herbs, and I can get lodestones from a little shop nearby. Should I feed the lodestones with iron? Daily? Weekly? Also, today is Wednesday, so I am going to make my St. Expedite jar. What I am asking for is 5 volunteers for the summer program. I am planning on painting a glass jar with gold top red. Painting on a St. Expedite prayer card, and surrounding it with gold trim, glitter, etc. Inside I am going to put one of my business cards, a petition paper with "The lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want", Angelica, I'm not sure what other herbs though or what to fill it with. Almond Oil with all saints? Florida Water?

Also, if this St decides to work with me, I will properly thank him with flowers, pound care and sharing how to work with him with others. Is it ok if I bury the contevts of the jar at a crossroads, and then save the decorated jar as a shrine or for future petitions?

Hello La Peregrina,
I would use St Expedite oil.
And here is a link on disposal: http://www.luckymojo.com/layingtricks.html
Also, I am merging your post to the appropriate subforum on bottle spells, under Saint Expedite, to give you ideas on what to do with your jar.
Take care

Hello all:

I was looking at doing a devotional bottle myself like the above posters but with a twist on it. The Missouri River is very important to me and I (and others) consider it to be sacred. It provides for me and the ones I love, water to the entire state, electric through a series of dams, etc. So I've crafted a bottle that I intend to use to honor it and potentially use for invocation. It's blue and I've decorated it with beadwork, blue and white wave patterns, along with shells.

What I'd like to do is fill it with herbs and items that would create a connection with the river and also increase or support that spiritual communication. The herbs I was looking at getting were: mallow roots and leaves, holly, and wormwood to support that communication. I would also add more local items of dried chokecherries and bark, sweetgrass, and tobacco as an offering. I was thinking I would top it off with a sprinkling of Florida Water, but then I thought it may be better to bless the outside of the bottle with the FW and then top the bottle off with the river's water itself and seal it with blue wax.

Has anyone done something similar to this before? Or if anyone had any suggestions regarding the herbs I am including I'd appreciate it. LM says holly can be used to invite guardian spirits into the home, but I've always thought of it as a ward.

Hi HanSkaWin,

I would leave the Florida Water out of the contents of the bottle and use that to cleanse the bottle before preparing it. Using the river's own water as part of your contents is a nice idea.

Your herbs sound OK for communication. You could also add Deer's Tongue to help the river "speak" to you should you use it for invocation in your spellwork.

I've not done this kind of work myself but am intrigued. Please keep us posted.

Good luck.

I've been meaning to make devotional bottles as well, or consider doing some work with the Saints aside from JUST prayer which I've done my whole life as a Catholic.

I wanted to know aside from purchasing the LM oils/baths if there were any herbs in particular that related to each saint, and how I'd go about finding that information in order to purchase appropriate herbs from LM?
To all the saints and angels thanks for intercession

Hello, Shutter,

That's a pretty broad question

I can't possibly name every herb for every Saint!

Try this page:

www.luckymojo.com/hoodooataglance.html

Also, go to the particular Saints' pages to find out more information

Take care

Hello there.

In this post here: catholic-saint-painted-bottle-spells-qu ... ml#p375553 HanSkaWin mentions the idea of placing herbs into a bottle and filling it with river water, in order to enhance contact with the river spirit etc.

I. won't that cause the herbs to rot, even if they're dry? wouldn't that be inconvenient to the work at hand?

II. what if, instead, one should add to bottle about an inch of the river water along with the herbs? would they rot anyway?

III. what about if one mixed a bit of river water and the other items to an alcohol-based solution? the herbs probably wouldn't rot then, but would the spirit be upset?

Please let me know.

Cordially,
Asturias.

Dear shuttle,

from the top of my head I can remember that martyr saints are associated with palm branches. When a saint is represented with them it is in remembrance of their martyrdom. And it has a strong catholic appeal to it as well - you'll know about it if you're catholic. Related to a custom that I don't recall how it's called in english, thus the omission lol. It has to do with a biblical episode of Jesus entering Jerusalem and the observation of easter - so if you're a devotee of any of the martyr saints you could start from there.

Other than that you might also consider using petals of dried flowers that have been placed on their altars beforehand. White and red roses etc.

Furthermore, herbs associated with positive spiritual contact with higher forces are a must. Olibanum and myrrh hold great mystical importance to christianity as well as to spiritual contact from a hoodoo point of view. Other than that, you should consider althaea, angelica. Some might say acacia as well.

Sometimes certain saints do have specific herbs associated with them. Such is the case of Saint Catherine of Sienna and tarragon, for instance. Legend has it that it was Saint Catherine who introduced tarragon into France, and there is a correspondending goal to both the particular devotion to this saint and the magical usage this herb, which is to help distressed women in situations of abuse. So there are cases of herbs being directly associated with saints and their devotion. Although not very common, this is certainly something worth looking into. There are not, however, any compendiums dedicated to outline which herb is associated to each saint and their magical employments. Not that I know of, anyway.

Personally, I would feel tempted to add oliver oil to the bottle as well. Olive oil represents purity and light, and has vast usage in positive spiritual practice.

Anyhow. That's how I see it. Some people might have different perspectives than mine as well as more gracious and traditional means of approaching this. I would be most willing to hear what they have to say, but so far these are my two cents regarding this matter. Might not be the ideal but hopefully stirring up this matter will give you some food for thought. It was certainly good exercise for me.

Best of luck in your endeavours.

May the Lord God, in name of his son Jesus Christ, and all his saints bestow their blessings upon you, and may their sanctity and wisdom comfort and assist you throughout your life.

Hi, can someone give me advice on how to use the St. Jude painted bottle with herbs. Do I burn a candle once. Seal the bottle, then shake. Or burn more than one candle over a period of time?

DeborahHarris --

There are several ways to use these bottles.

Some people keep them "plain" and write a small petition to insert in the bottle and smoke the inside of the bottle with the saint's incense or with Frankincense.

Some people like them fixed with a drop of oil and appropriate herbs, then burn a candle on top, seal it and shake it, just as you described.

And, yes, some burn more than one candle over time.

Hand-painted bottle spells at the Lucky Mojo Curio Co. Each one has a "window"-- look inside and find one of our hoodoo product labels or a Catholic saint. Filled with petitions, herbs, minerals, or personal concerns, and scented with conjure oil, they are pretty enough to keep on an altar for long-term work.
