Hi all!

Do any of you have experience working with Sophia The Archangel Of Love? If so, i would love some suggestions. I would like to burn a white candle and anoint it with "Healing Oil" in hopes it would help heal my relationship with my husband and i was hoping there was a prayer i could say along with it?

Thank you!!

Hello prtypsn27,

I've personally never heard of this archangel but I'm sure you could find something online. Dressing a candle with Healing oil to heal your relationship with your husband sounds like a love idea. Wishing you the best of luck.

Many blessings.
Thank you saints and spirits!

prtypsn27,

I agree with Sister Jean, I have never heard of this angel either. But if you need help with love work you can pray to the angel as Sister Jean said, I would also consider including reconciliation products which are known to foster forgiveness between two parties and bring them together in love. You also would like to add balm of gilead buds which help cause two people to forgive and get over past hurts. These can be added to the candle you are burning.

Thank you Sister Jean and JayDee! I've been doing a lot of research. She sounds pretty incredible! I have added Deer's Tongue. I will be purchasing some Gilead Buds.

Thank you again! I appreciate your time!

In regards to "Sophia The Archangel Of Love" -

I was unfamiliar with this angel as well and decided to do a little digging. The only extensive reference I could find was a unofficial, non-canon, fan-based character from a role-playing game, loosely based on an actual in-game character called "Sophia, the Angel of Enlightenment". Some Christian sites that mention this angel also link back to this fan-based "character reference" hosted on this game site.

An angel with a little more reference that may be well suited to your needs could be Archangel Haniel/Anael, who is associated with the planet Venus in Kabbalistic tradition.

Hope this was a bit helpful, and good luck in healing your relationship!

Thank you Rev James.

I did some serious digging and i actually found some very interesting info on her. I also have now been obsessed with learning about Archangel Haniel/Anael. Thank you for suggesting her to me! I have officially become obsessed and infatuated with the Archangels and i cannot learn enough about them.
Again, i so appreciate your response to me! :)

Here is a little clippet i found on her:

Angel Sophia is the angel of love. She has the status of an Archangel but she likes to keep it modest and be referred to as Angel Sophia. Her energy is love and she offers it in large amounts. She wants us to plant this energy all around the planet to counteract all the fear and negativity that has been ever-present lately. Calling on her will help you understand and “breathe” in love and then share it with others.
Prayer/Mantra: Angel Sophia, THANK YOU for showing me the way to great love and acceptance of self. I appreciate everything you have shown me, how you have guided me and I love and appreciate myself for taking this journey. Peace rains down into my aura making it a golden light of pure universal love, emanating out to all those I encounter and sharing this love with them. Amen

Hi prtypsn27,

The ancient Greeks had four different words for love, which still exist to this day:

Eros, or sexual passion...love shared between lovers
Philia, or deep friendship...platonic love among friends
Storge, or familiar/empathetic love...love within families
Agape, or universal love...love for the common world

It sounds like Archangel Sophia is petitioned more for agape, vs. eros, so you might want to consider this distinction when working with her to strengthen the bond with your husband.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

I'm new so if this question or something like it has already been answered, please disregard and point me in the right direction.

I’m taking a class and within the class we call the Three Fates Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. The teacher requested we meditate upon each of the three and get to know them. So, I’m thinking maybe I should conjure them (one at a time of course) and maybe get a better feeling of who they are. And maybe build a relationship with them. Now I think about it maybe a relationship spell would be a better idea. I’m wondering what the Lucky Mojo People think?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Cirexin,

I have moved your post to the thread on questions about working with spirits. In the future, please do a search of the forum to find the right place to post your questions.

Unfortunately you are asking about working with the Moirai from mythology, and this is a forum for the practice of hoodoo. We can't advise on how to work within another spiritual tradition.

That said, please read through this thread as you will find advice and ideas on working with spirits, so you could adapt this work to your goal of building a relationship with your desired spirits.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn’t think it matter where the spirits are from. I’ll read all the post and hopefully find something I can use. I’m up for suggestions on anyone’s part.

Cirexin --

This is not a general occult forum. It is oriented toward those who have a history with or wish to learn about African American folk magic, called hoodoo, conjure, rootwork, and so forth.

I have written a fairly lengthy free online book on the subject. The table of contents and links to all of the web pages is here:

http://luckymojo.com/hoodoo.html

In addition i have written and edited the writings of a number of skilled practitioners, and my company has published more than 30 books on folk magic at very rasonable prices -- most of them 96 pages for $9.00 each. Not all are on the topic hoodoo, but most of them are. The complete book list is here:

Thanks again for the info. Someone told me the Black Arts Conjuring Oil works pretty well. Despite hours of looking for instructions, I just can't find instructions of use. I'll go over the links you sent.

Hello! Would anyone happen to know any information on St. Mary of Egypt and St. Pelagia? I know their bios, so I guess my real question rather is has anyone worked with them?

Hi Missjess21,

I have neither heard of St. Mary of Egypt nor worked with her. There are several saints named Pelagia (of Antioch, Tarsus, the Virgin). I've not worked with them either.

Curious to know about your interest in them, as we all learn something new every day.

I found them to be the few saints who weren’t considered virtuous; known for being quiet the female version of a womanizer so I felt that they would be more apt to work with the “other woman”. I read in the forums there are some people who are in that position and a lot of the responses seem to all share the same sentiment (saints are virtuous thus helping out in an affair is unlikely). I know, I believe it’s Pegalia, there isn’t much, if at all, information on her crossover into sainthood either which I find interesting...all in all I was curious :) wanted to see if my thought process had any backings lol

Hi Missjess21,

Well, Saint Pelagia was known as The Harlot, so if you wanted to work with her to have an affair with someone already in a relationship, she might be an interesting choice. Let us know how this works out.

Hi Missjess21,

Personally, if I am working with a saint, then I do not involve other saints or entities in that same work, as it suggests doubt in the original saint. But that's just me.

Good luck.

Hi Marionwife,

Oshun is an orisha in the Ifá and Yoruba religions, and is therefore not part of the hoodoo tradition we discuss in this forum. You will have to seek out information on her elsewhere.

Also, I have moved your post to the correct thread. Please be mindful to post in the right discussion areas of the forum.

Good luck.

I got a reading from a psychic and was told that I have a Djinn and lower level shadow beings working against me and causing me bad luck. I want to start a relationship with a chinese deity that can protect me from such evil beings and maybe control, destroy or befriend this particular Djinn that has been causing me trouble, what to do?

I chose Chinese deities mainly because I relate more to them by my cultural heritage. I know Djinn are Islam beings but apparently I have one right now and it has been causing me all kind of troubles lately.

Hello mastersirius678,

Was this a reader from AIRR?

Sorry but we can't advise on working within traditions outside of hoodoo. You would need to consult with someone schooled in working with djinn and Chinese deities.

Good luck.

I've practiced magick for a few months with great successes however giving offerings after the goal is achieved is new to me. People tend to overthink magick but I'd rather be safe than sorry since people say Saint Expedite gets upset quickly. The issue is I did the ritual around 11pm Wednesday. The next day I received a random class action settlement check in the mail which is about 3% of the amount I asked for. I knew the check was coming but forgot about it months ago. The question is do I give Saint Expedite his offerings now, split them up, or do nothing until the full amount I asked for is received? Today is the third day of my petition. My petition asked for it com arrive within 14 days.

In my petition I offered him: pound cake, red flowers & coins. Some people say if you give the offerings first he will consider his job done. Should I wait until the full amount is received? What do you think?

Hello EmpressAusetLives,

Welcome to the Lucky Mojo forum! We are happy to see you here.

I have moved your post to the correct forum on working with saints and deities. In the future, please do not start random topics as you did, as this is against forum rules. Search the topics instead to find the right location for your question.

You can thank St Expedite now for the gift he has given you and reiterate your petition for the larger sum you would like to have. Don't wait until more money comes to you as this may feel like ingratitude. Always be grateful for what you are given, and show thanks for it. That would be my best advice.

Good luck.

Is it ok to use Erzulie Freda for separation spells then a totally different type like Santa Muerte for love spells?

CandyGoddess33 --

Regarding Erzulie Freda, a loa of the Haitian Vodou religion, which is initiatic and follows a distnction between clergy and laity, your question "is it ok?" should be asked of a religious cleric, priest, or priestess of the religion. Most practitioners speak French Creyol, although immigrants to the USA, and their descendants will no doubt speak English. Asking strangers on the internet about how to petition (or, to quite your infelicitous verb, "use") a sacred being is simply inappropriate.

Regarding Santa Muerte, who is a folk-saint of Mexican origin, and thus not under the aegis of any formal religion, you would do well to ask your question ("is it ok?" to "use" this entity) of a person who has worked with Holy Death for a long time and has some good advice for you that he or she has developed through personal experience and community knowledge, and not just picked up via internet chatter. Most adherents of this spirit speak Spanish, although many are bilingual, and some speak only English.

This forum is primarily based around the practice of African American rootwork, which is a form of folk magic that has developed among American Christians of African descent. Among those who are Catholics, the typical petitioning of saints is found in abundance; however, most are Protestants, and thus implicitly they are strict monotheists, so there would be little in the way of formalized sub-deity veneration or, as you call it, "use." As a result of this, much of hoodoo appears "secular" to those outside it, in that formal application for aid to well-known cult-spirits is not common -- but it is not truly secular, as many hoodoo practitioners will apply for aid to angels or personally-known spirits, including the spirits of ancestors or deceased personages well known in the local community.

Good luck in your work.

Saint Expedite is a regular Catholic Saint, so you can make a donation in his name at any Catholic church in your town or city. Just write your thanks to the saint, wrap it around some money, put it in an envelope, and write, "In the name of Saint Expedite" on the envelope, then go to the church and drop it into the poor box or charity box.

If there is no Catholic church where you live, you can mail the money to this famous church, which has a wonderful statue of Saint Expedite inside for all to see.

Hello, my name is Nejo! I’m new to this forum!
I know most times we select a deity to work with, my question is: do deities, angels, spirits or saints chose people that they want to work with?
My second question is: can you switch between different deities , spirits, saints, angels for the same work? Or can you work with more than one at the same time on the same thing?

Hello Nejo,

Yes, often times, saints will "choose" us in the sense that they will agree to help us, or choose not to based on our desire. For example, what we are asking for may not be in our best interest, therefore it might feel as if no assistance is forthcoming. However, it is actually an answer in itself, as sometimes the answer to our desires is a No. Trust in the saints you work with to help guide you as much as you trust them to help you.

Working more than one saint at a time for the same goal only works, in my opinion, if they are complementary petitions. For example, you could petition a saint for one thing and ask St Expedite to help speed the outcome along. This is complementary. However, asking two different saints to help you accomplish the exact same goal is not what I would advise, as it suggests a lack of faith in any one saint's ability to assist you.

Try to establish a relationship with the saint or saints who appeal most to you before asking for their help. You need to approach them with respect and appreciation before asking for favors. This is true of any relationship.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

I've been wanting to begin working with a saint, Jesus Malverde, but don't have much experience with working with saints, altars, offerings, etc. I've just seen them and I've heard scattered things here and there but I'd love any knowledge regarding where or how to start working with a saint. And a more specific question.. is it necessary to "Make contact" with a saint first and if so what would be a good way to do so with Jesus Malverde?

Hello Marcelo_Curio,

You do want to establish a relationship first before asking for help. The same is true in the mundane world. You wouldn't go up to a total stranger and ask them to help you resolve a major issue in your life. You wouldn't do likewise with a saint.

Just talk to the saint you hope to work with. Introduce yourself, tell him you are happy to welcome him into your life, offer things like water, flowers, sweets, or ask for what he would like, etc. Then after you've formed a bond, you can petition for his help.

Be respectful and grateful at all times and you should be fine.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Hello LuckyScorpio,

In my experience, asking for things one or two at a time has worked best for me. Asking for more than that has felt a bit selfish to me.

Remember to give thanks and offerings in gratitude for anything your saint helps you with.

Good luck.

Hello all,
I was reading that money was a spirit. It makes sense, but I never thought it that way. I was how I would work or call upon, not sure if I'm using the correct wording, the spirit of money? Would it be giving donations? Thank you for your time.

birainluv,

Everything has a spirit that can be called on, there is a famous author who talks about calling on the spirit of a business to get a job. As you suggested stating I call on the spirit of money, treating it as a spirit, giving it thanks and gifts like you would any spirit you work with.

Author and one of his many works you may be interested in reading: A CENTURY OF SPELLS

Greetings, birainliv.

I hope you are in good spirits. Money is a spirit & it’s also energy. There is no specific or one way to call upon money. I say call money with whatever is in your intention & heart. I recommend a book by a friend of mine Miss Phoenix Lefae called Cashbox Conjure. Here is the link

Best of luck!

What to do after petition has been answerd

Hello all I need some help. As some of you might know I was going through some tuff times lost my job was going through a dark time. I was praying and lighting candels to God, saints like saint jude, virginin mary, san pancracio, santa muerte, chango, etc. My petion was to help me get a job, prosperity, health, peace of mind and ability to handle the mess loosing my job caused. I was with out a job six months.
Yesterday I received 3 job offers I accepted a job. My question is now that I received an answer to my prayers/petition do I stop praying to those saints based on the petition? Do I pray a thankful prayer daily, or what od I do?
I pray twice a day regular prayers and petition prayers for protection, Job, health, patients and forgiveness. I am not sure what to do next. I feel if I pray the petition prayers I am wasting their time.

Any Advice?

Hello martinezmarco296,

First of all, congratulations on your new job! I am happy for you and I hope it works out well for you.

Since you worked with saints to help you land this new job, it would be appropriate to thank them for their help and make an offering of gratitude. This could be a donation to a charity in their name, or some other means of showing your appreciation.

You can continue to work with them for other goals, like protection as you stated, but you wouldn't need to appeal to them for help on the job front as you are now employed.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your new job!

Hello everyone,

I have the Lucky Mojo Black Arts incense. My question is how do you get rid of a negative spirit after you have conjured it? I have read for this type of work you don't do it in your personal space, but outside in a remote location like in a building or in nature. And some say you have a circle of protection around you or not you but the spirit. But after you have worked with it, how do you get rid of it?

Hello Pisces Lady,

Read the forum threads on cleansing and protecting for advice on how to get rid of spiritual energies that are less than welcome.

Pisces Lady,

Cleanse the area you worked in with chinese floor wash and also smoke the area with sage, open a window to let the negative energy out. Take a bath in hyssop as you say Psalms 51 to remove sin form cursing.

Thanks for the help, but I didn't conjure up anything. I was just thinking and the thought came to mind as I was looking at the incense, and certain precautions someone would need.

Hello Pisces Lady,

As with undertaking any kind of negative spells, working with Black Arts should be approached by cleansing and protecting yourself before and after doing your work. It's a smart habit to get into, and one that I advise all of my students to embrace.

Good luck.

If I have been working with Erzulie Freda for the same situation, is it ok to also ask Santa Muerte for assistance?

Hello musicqueen378,

I have merged your post into the topic on working with spirits and deities, as this is the best fit for your question, which has been asked and answered before. Please do not start new topics as you did, as you will see we have nearly every topic already covered on the forum.

Please read through the posts here for help and ideas on working with more than one spirit for the same goal. If you still have questions after reading, feel free to ask here.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

musclequeen378 --

Erzuli Freda comes to us through Haitian Voodoo. Most people initiated in Vodoun would caution against also venerating spirits from other religions.. The veneration of Santisima Muerte is derived from remnants of indigenous Aztec culture as exemplified in modern Catholic Mexico. It's an entirely different form of worship. Only you can decide for yourself if you are authentically connecting to these spirits.

LuckyScorpio --

This is quite a long list, but i would like to open a question about your assumption that there are indeed some "type of signs or symbols" that indicate whether a given Catholic saint is "willing to work with you."

As far as i know, there is no Catholic doctrine or long-standing Catholic folk magic practice that specifies such signs or symbols. Traditionally, in folk-Catholic practice, you ask for intercession or aid from a saint whose patronage is somehow associated with your desire, and the prayer is either granted or not. If it is granted, then you owe that saint a measure of thanks, according to your vow and according to whatever he or she is traditionally said to favour (e.g. alms for the poor, a public thanks, an offering of flowers, etc.)

In other words, i know of no system of pre-vetting a saint's help via omens or signs before you make your prayer.

For a list of Catholic saints and their patronage, see: http://luckymojo.com/patronsaints.html

You will also enjoy Papa Newt's articles on Catholic Folk Magic and Catholic Saints in the book "The Red Folder, i am sure. See: http://luckymojo.com/theredfolder.html

Good luck.

Hello and Greetings my Hoodoo family.

This post has a potential to be an incredibly long one, so I'll give the Cliff Notes version. As hoodoo is considered by many Christian folk magick, I'd applied what I read from the Bible (New Testament) to my divination technique. There is a scripture that says to test whether a spirit is of God, ask if Jesus has come in the flesh. If they say yes, it is a righteous spirit. If not, then you quite possibly have something malevolent on your hands.

1) I asked this of my playing cards in a three cut deck and received "no" as an answer. I came back some time later hoping that that spirit had left and asked again: it answered with a "qualified yes". Relieved yet skeptical from before in fear of potentially erratic responses in the event that that malevolent spirit could still be there, I asked some basic questions, sort of in the hopes that a different classification of spirits could answer me, like an ancestor or other once carnate spirits, and got "no's" for answers that I knew should have been answered "yes".

2) So I asked a more personal question, one that would only apply to females, and sure enough, I got a yes.

NOTE: I want to make something very clear: I'm abundantly aware that divination tools are no joke, not to be taken lightly, and definitely not to be toyed with, especially for answers that one can discern on their own. The reason this went down this way, is because I was in desperate need of an answer that I had no way of obtaining, and I wanted to make sure I was dealing with a beneficent source as the Bible said would be evidenced by that simple question of if Christ is come in the flesh. When I got the screwy answer, and then the opposite answer for the same question, that's when I began my investigatory work and ultimately received a "yes" for a female-oriented question, and I am cismale.

I know I need a reading for a diagnosis. But until then, I'd like to know the possibilities, as these possibilities are not a definitive answer to my problem.

3) Could these bizarre answers be the result of a spirit intrusion?

4) Could they be the result of an angered ancestor that I've somehow failed to honor and thank properly for a favor I asked?

5) Can this be related to or caused by the evil eye?

6) Could I be cursed (I can't ask my cards for obvious reasons, AND even Bibliomancy isn't working in the way I'm used to it doing so with no primary, secondary or tertiary interpretations that even remotely match my questions).

7) Could I be oppressed by a malevolent discarnate spirit? I have done very negative spellwork that I released at the crossroads while failing to guard myself and clean up properly, both spiritually and materially.

8) Is there a certain bath or baths that can cure whatever's attached itself to me to skew my playing card and Bibliomancy divination? I'm thinking 2 tbsp mustard, 2 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp salt, 2 tbsp baking soda plus four very hot cups of warm water, bathing downward before dawn or at noon, and dumping the bath water to the West or at a crossroad. I forgot where I read about that bath, but it said to do it once a day for five days and it will start your body and spiritual health afresh.

Any help or advice about why my three cut card deck yes/no divination all of a sudden began to fail. As well as the clarity of my bibliomantic approach.

Thanks Lucky Mojo Family :) Looking forward to your candor.

landsgenesis2 --

1)Testing spirits by means of playing cards is not something i have done, so i have no advice for you. I usually just speak to them, internally.

2) I have no idea what to say to this. It seems very personal, but is meaningless to me. Your decision to get a reading seems good.

3) Spirit intrusion is a possibility, but also possible is your lack of command of the tools of divination you are using.

4) An angered ancestor is a possibility, but i would not jump to that conclusion without a reading.

5) The evil eye is caused by jealousy and has distinct symptoms, and i see no evidence of jealousy and no symptoms of the evil eye in your description.

6) A curse is only likely if you have an enemy, and only you know that. If you have wronged someone or if you are in contact with a mean-spirited or evil-minded person who has cursed others, then it is a possibility.

7) A malevolent discarnate spirit is similar to a spirit intrusion, so my answer to that is the same. If this bothers you, simple protection may be of assistance.

8) I will not prescribe a bath or baths that can cure whatever's attached itself to you because i am not convinced that there IS anything attached to you! The bath you mentioned is quite good, though, and may be of help.

Thanks for your thorough response miss cat. I read over it several times. Thanks-a-million.

Now it's off to explore your answer to the third question I posed concerning a lack of command over my tools of divination: so I'll be trying to strengthen that. Might there be an already existent thread on the topic as it would be helpful with what and whichever the case is,

I plan to reach out to Hoodoo Psychics and/or AIRR for diagnostic purposes; and I intend on following their recommendations in conjunction with and paralleled to exploring each possible answer miss cat gave to each of my questions. I plan to explain as simply as I can what I've expressed here to miss cat and all of you while stating as much of it as possible, and let Spirit guide from that point onward. I have every confidence that HP and AIRR will give me sound advice.

Once again miss cat your thorough input never fails.

Again, to not get in trouble or a warning, I'd like to know if there are any threads or subthreads dedicated to teaching one how to be more masterful with their divination tools, particularly with playing cards and Bibliomancy, which was the original aim of my recent post prior to this that found a better home - as I highly doubt this is the correct one; I'm earnestly praying that the turn of topic here doesn't land me in trouble.

Many Thanks miss cat and my LM fam :)

Hello, landsgenesis2 --

It is beyond the scope of this forum to function as a teaching zone about divination. I have a strong interest in the subject, and do teach it, but this forum is primarily for the use of shop customers wanting to learn how to work with spiritual supplies.

However, my husband nagasiva and i have developed some extremely useful annotated bibliographies listing books about various forms of divination. These are at our non-prit site, The yronwode Institution for the Preservation and Popularization of Indigenous Ethnomagicology (YIPPIE). Those bibliographies list (and in many cases review) books on divination -- and each bibliography has its own commentary thread in this forum, in the books section. They do not (yet) cover books on every form of divination, but here is what we have so far:
