I read Deuteronomy 28 for my money spells. It talks about God's blessings over His people, always prospering, being the head and not the tail, etc. things to that nature. Look it up and see if you feel connected to it.

I probably wouldn't use the Bible for anything manipulative or evil, such as breaking people up. Maybe it would be best if you just made up a prayer of your own, without using anything of God's in it. Or maybe move on and try to find someone that isn't taken. I wish you the best.

I didn't say that using the Bible for break up work is not traditional or accepted in conjure. I just thought it wouldn't be so good if the work wasn't something that God approved of. If it wasn't, then what if the work doesn't work or even backfires? Even if it worked, but it isn't seen as just in the eyes of God, wouldn't you be in some trouble? That and the fact that using something holy (the Bible) to make something negative or evil happen to someone just doesn't seem right to me. So I suggested that the Psalms not be used for such works.

This is a great thread, with many excellent practices. I like to create the environment I desire by adorning myself in my ritual garments and burning incense before I begin. I also frequently take an appropriate spiritual bath before working, I find it helps to direct and magnify the power of the work.

The original poster did not provide any details of the situation, so we don't know if the work is justified or not. She could be trying to break up her husband and another woman or a mother trying to protect her daughter from an abusive relationship.

Psalm 23 is one of my favorites and I use it daily. In my opinion, you cant go wrong with that one.

hi, ami suppossed to do a prayer or say something while im using a satchet powder and oil?

im going to use my crown of success oil in my hair product how many drops of oil to i put in my hair product? and while im doing that do/can i say "as i use this hair product,my hair will grow out in as little as 7 days so mote it be!)

I think you can say a command as you said or a prayer. However, telling your hair to grow in 7 days in unrealistic to me. I mean thats just not enough time to make a substantial amount of growth. Everyone's hair reacts to products different.

I think the crown of success is just fine. Yes you can say a prayer for the job. You can say something like " May I be successful in getting a job at (position and company).

I came across this Bible verse and thought it would be good for those who like to play slots:

He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly. Job 20:18

After all, that's what slot machines do. They swallow your money and occasionally "vomit" it up again. You could pray this verse over your mojo hand and your money before going to the casino.

I Wanted to know, if you are doing different spells or different workings, do you change your petition? For example, if sewing hair into someones hat, do I say a petition I wrote? and then if I were to anoint a wallet or do a honey jar spell, would I use the SAME petition or do I write a DIFFERENT petition for that working ONLY? I dont want to get the spirits confused with my workings?

Why would you be praying for the same thing when you're sewing a hair into a hat as when you are doing a money working?

A petition is a statement for your intent. So YES, it will change with pretty much every work that you do in order to be applicable to that individual work. Even if you are doing 3 different love workings, they are likely working different angles of the case, and so your petition will still be different from work to work.

OH! OKAY! So as I anoint FMB oil to a car handle, and car seat and different parts of my car should be on ONE PETITION....Sewing my hair in a hat should be ANOTHER PETITION....And anointing GUM and Keeping it in my pocket for 10 days should be ANOTHER PETITION RIGHT?

I think i'm getting the hang of how to do it!

But of course I always say the Psalms23 before activating the oil so it can have some effect....what I do is say the Psalm 23; then my Petition; and then thank the spirits and god in my prayer...is that an acceptable order???? EVERYTIME, EVERY SPELLWORK.

You don't have to say the 23rd psalm unless that psalm is applicable to your situation. You also don't have to "activate" the oil - Lucky Mojo oils have already been prayed over. You can and should pray your petition as you use the oil, but there is no need to "activate" it.

The oil had said on the bottom to pray over the psalms 23 so i dont mind doing it. I would of thought it could relate to it. Your a big help DEVI SPRING. Thank You. and hopefully for my petitions, I dont want to confuse the spirits. Thats why I had thought. But I do everything on the safe side, and bury everything I want to attract in the front yard, and everything close, to my backyard. But now UI fully understand to switch petitions with whatever spell i'm doing. Do they HAVE TO RHYME or no?

Rhyming is a primarily European technique, and as such it doesn't have much play within hoodoo.

I have a question that's more out of curiosity about how other workers work. I was actually curious in knowing if there was a specific Bible that is actually better to use than another. For example right now the bible I use is The International Student Bible, but when I am working and using it to recite the Psalms I have a feeling the wording should be a little older. The current bible I have was a gift given to me as a present years ago. I am currently searching for another bible. One that is older and has some strong spiritual energies behind it. One I found that I really am drawn to was owned back abround 1803 by a Reverend and has his personal notes in it. I heard some people say that the King James Version is good for Conjure, but also know some who use the Bible with The Old and New Testament with Apocrypha. So was just curious if it actually makes a difference or not.

It's a personal choice. Obviously King James has the really old timey language and phrasing in it that so many people really enjoy. But it doesn't matter which version you use, as long as you resonate with it.

When I work with music, I like to listen to plain(Gregorian)chant. That kind of music really helps me center for some reason. If you're interested in chant, I highly recommend "Ordo Virtutum" by St. Hildegard von Bingen. It's absolutely beautiful and certainly worth having in your collection whether you use it in your spellwork or not.

Is it so much what you say? Or the feeling you have when your asking for what you want? Do you even have to speak it or even just visulize it? For example using 'love me' powder, can i just picture my target and feel the love?

I have trouble 'focusing' and find my self rambling a bit.. Is there any youtube clip or anything that shows you how to do this? Or a guide on how its done?

In hoodoo, since it is a Christian form of folk magic, it's generally done through prayer. You can use psalms, other scripture verses, Catholic or Spiritualist prayers, and combine that with fervent prayer from the heart. While you are praying you are visualizing/feeling your petition passionately.

Miss Cat has posted YouTube clips showing the style of prayer that is often part of conjure work. If you search around you may find it - I believe the thread is called something like "Share how you pray, focus".

We cannot tell you how to pray because prayer cannot be taught. Think about it, prayer is an intimate act between the individual and Deity. You yearn and reach out for the Divine and the Divine reaches down to hear you. For me prayer is best illustrated in Michelangelo's Creation of Adam.

It is a spiritual, not mechanical, so close your eyes and turn your thoughts towards speaking to God. Ask from the heart for what you want knowing with full conviction if that if you take one step towards the Lord He shall take ten towards you.

There are not set prayers that go with specific oils. Pray your intent as you employ the oils and you are on the right track.

For inspiration you may look to the Psalms.

'I know that bibles can be found with a kind of "index" in the front pertaining to how youre feeling and different situations. So looking up "depression", "healing", "love", "protection" would point you to specific scriptures that could be used. I have a little one thats just New Testament scriptures and has this helpful section.

I agree with what everyone has wrote. It is so important to speak from the heart, it's a place where the physical and spirit meet. It is from here to pray the intent into the oil by speaking to it. Let your breath bring the oil to life.

For me after I do that then I will fallow it up with a certain Psalm or a specific prayer such as the Our Father, for example. Though no matter what, speak from the heart. Best of luck to you!

I use the psalm or specific prayer launch me into my personal prayers.

So you see there's no one way to go about it. You find what works best for you.

i have read in other threads that you should "do a divination" first. is that when you ask a reader about your work or is that something i can do myself...sorry if this isnt the right thread but i havent found the info by doing a general search

You can certainly get a reading regarding your work from one of the AIRR readers. If you have divination tools, such as a pendulum or a Tarot card deck, you can do it yourself as well, if you are familiar with the selected tool and it's meanings. Sometimes though it's harder to be objective when you are divining for yourself....even professional readers seek out other professionals when dealing with personal readings.
